Visions Of Heaven     4/17/18

Seven Points J. Percy Priest Dam Campground, Hermitage, Tennessee (Nashville) and Cumberland Mountain State Park, Crossville, Tennessee

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR NEPHEW, TYLER!  At 27, Tyler’s just a bit younger than our sons.  YIKES!

Since we didn’t have to leave today until about noon, and the morning was clear and bright and warmer, we decided to walk part of the bike path we were on the other day.  It was a nice walk, and we got to see things we’d never see on a bike.  And take pictures.  😊

Honeysuckle!

Blaine spotted an owl!

Preening before bed

He looks sleepy . . .

This is a train bridge.
At first, we thought this said, ‘Rink’, but upon closer inspection, I now believe it says ‘Risk’ with the ‘s’ turned sideways.

And we heard lots of shooting!  Nowadays when you hear that, you’re mind (at least mine) goes to all the mass shootings.  This was nothing of the sort.  Turned out, we were right by a Police Headquarters and they were out there practicing their driving maneuverability and shooting skills.  Whew!

Of course, when I shot the video, they stopped shooting . . .

Why is the water in Tennessee green?
I’ll do some research and let you know later.

He’s still there!
Probably really wanting us to go home and leave him alone
After all, how would you like it if someone kept taking pictures of you when you were trying to sleep??

We got in about 4 miles before time constraints forced us to turn around and return home to pack up.

Heading out of the campground

We encountered several areas of construction along our three hour move today. Several times, including trying to find the campground check-in, Blaine had to navigate very narrow spaces and tight turns.  But he managed without incident because he’s the best!

Really narrow expressway!

Those pink flowering trees were everywhere.
Very pretty!

A short mountain in the distance!

We’re staying at another C.C.C. (civilian conservation corps) campground, built in the 1930’s.  It’s a really nice place with about 14 miles of hiking trails.  Yep. It’s hiking.  We’re in the hills now.

We struggled to find the check-in as there were lots of paths to choose and no signs, but Blaine maneuvered us around them until we finally just stopped at a building to ask where it was.  We were there.  The woman who checked us in was the first unfriendly person we’ve encountered for many months.  Maybe she was just having a bad day . . .

After set up, we needed a grocery store and visited a Kroger’s – along with about a hundred other people!  The parking lot was completely full!  At 3:30 in the afternoon!  On a Tuesday!  Crazy!  Anyway, it took much longer than we expected, and then, on top of that, I chose a line with a cashier-in-training.  And we had ice cream.  By the time we got home, we had custard.  But it was really good for our snack!  The $3,  8″ peach pie? Not so much.  What were we expecting for $3?

Anyway, after dinner, the day was still beautiful and we went in search of a trail to walk.  We didn’t really want to hike a full one because the sun was setting, but we were itching to get into the woods even if only for a little while.

A delicate wild violet living above ground inside a decayed tree trunk.

This is the closest we could get – and also the best picture. It sounded lovely!

My soul was filled with joy at the sight of the bubbling creek we discovered!

I guess this is the type of place I love most.  At that moment, I decided that when we stop traveling, I want a condo in the woods with a large enough stream to make a sound, my home elevated enough to not worry about flooding, a path to a walking trail lined with flowering trees along a small river and lots of song birds that don’t get up until the sun does.

I think this is my version of what Heaven looks like.  😊

On our way back home, we stumbled upon the Cumberland State Park Bridge and the Mill Lodge.  And yes I said mountain.  Cool beans!

They weren’t releasing water through all the spillways, and several were actually boarded up.

The Mill Lodge
We don’t know if they use it or rent it or what.

Great picture, Blaine!
But your’s usually are!

Day is done, gone the sun, from the lakes, from the hills, from the sky.  All is well, safely rest, God is neigh . . . . .
