The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and keep the good for yourself.” But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, and have taken an oath that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the thong of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’ I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share that belongs to the men who went with me – to Abner, Eshcoi and Mamre. Let them have their share.” ~ Genesis 14:21-24
This offer tested Abram’s faith in God for his provision. I’m sure the offer was tempting, but Abram didn’t give in. He knew that the Sodomite king was a wicked person, ruling over a wicked city, and Abram wasn’t interested in becoming indebted to him in any possible way. We would be wise to remember this lesson as well. The things we can acquire in this world are always tempting, but we must remember that the things of God are infinitely better.
Let’s begin moving day with a laugh, okay?
What do you call a deer with no eyes?
No eye-der!
Let me translate for those who didn’t get it – no Idee-er! Hahahaha!
Well . . . we laughed out loud. It’s better in person. 😊
Another weird thing? The dream I had last night. I don’t remember all of it, but there was this disembodied hand and it spoke and said, “Where’s Darrell?” Isn’t that the strangest thing?!? When I mentioned it to Blaine this morning, he said, “It’s because you said you missed Darrell Waltrip yesterday.” (Waltrip is a former NASCAR driver who’s been doing commentary for races for years and retired last year) So, so odd!!! But since he’s the only Darrell I know, Blaine could just be right. 😊
We drove 60 miles in just under two hours today.
Highlands Hammock State Park, Sebring, Florida
We had to park just inside the gate and get in a long line to check in. There were at least 5 people ahead of me and camping vehicles were scattered all over the place. Once I got inside though, it didn’t take long.
As we were setting up the outside, we discovered a huge mess on our picnic table and on the ground around it – some kind of chalky substance was smeared all over the top of the table and there were pieces on the ground, which we stepped in before we saw it, and tracked some inside. That made for additional cleaning. Good grief! Aren’t the campground hosts supposed to take care of stuff like this between campers? This is why the campgrounds comp their stay, for crying out loud.
There was a plan in place. We’re staying here for four days and we already had three days of activities lined up. In addition, we have about two weeks or so of laundry that needs done – including three sets of sheets. This place has three washers and dryers and they’re close to where we’re set up. So we fully expected to do laundry after we were situated.
The problem was, everyone else in this crowded park also wanted to do laundry today.
Therefore, it turned out to be a very poor decision to strip the beds this morning before we moved. We first checked it out at 3pm, and the line was still there at 6:30! Forget that. We’ll do laundry at a laundromat tomorrow. It’ll cost more, and kinda ruined our plan to get that chore out of the way, but it’ll be faster this way anyhow. Sigh . . . . . .
