Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised, and his son Ishmael was thirteen…. And every male in Abraham’s household, including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him. ~ Genesis 17:23-27 That had to be pretty scary! Wonder if anyone fought Abraham on this? And who did Abraham choose to do this for him? And who did all the others? I have so many irrelevant questions. The most important point is – – Abraham’s obedience to God, despite it being uncomfortable (to say the least!).
Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God ~ I Corinthians 10:31
I try to remember that on days like today. Days that are spent performing routine, necessary tasks. I never used to mind these days until about 4 ½ years ago. Nowadays, there are so many other things I’d rather be doing; whether it’s exploring, or reading or actually working on the blog (which I’ll admit, even that gets tedious sometimes).
But days like this are part of living, and I’d rather set aside one day and do them all at once, than do one or two things each day. I guess because I lived my life like that for many years. Tuesdays were almost always “Domestic Goddess” days. Who knew a goddess could be clad in grungy clothes and disheveled hair with a broom and mop in one hand, clothes soap in the other, and a dust rag between her teeth? And that’s after the weekly trip to the grocery store?
I’m not sharing everything we did today, but it was a lot – shopping, laundry, cleaning, repairs, research . . . .
Which is why we only have two pictures from today, and those, Blaine took while he watched the sunset from our picnic table. There were too many bugs out there this evening for me, but I stole peeks from inside the coach every so often.
