Van Buren State Park, Van Buren, Ohio
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. ~ I Timothy 2:5
Sunday afternoon we had to get out and get some fresh air and exercise. The Park has a couple of trails, so we went out to see what we could find. The one we wanted – that was marked on their very own map – was an out and back walk alongside their small lake. Blaine also wanted to check out their dump station since we’d be needing it when we leave tomorrow. It’s a pretty convoluted system they have here! The dump station was clear over on the other side of the Park – down one of those tiny roads like we came in on, and you have to drive around a circle. Crazy! You’ll just have to trust me, it’s not made for motorhomes. (In the end, he decided we’d just drive with stuff in our tanks all the way home.)
And the trail? It was non-existent. After walking along the water in some grass for a short distance, we went back, climbed in the Jeep and drove to the other end of the lake, where we located a horse/bike/hike maze of trails, and headed out in the direction of the far side of the lake.
We came across some interesting nature things.
Once we’d gone as far as possible, we went up onto the train tracks that’re here, and walked those for a little while – – just for fun. 😊
Back home, started getting ready for tomorrow’s move.
On Monday, we turned our sights in the homeward direction! We put 3,015 miles on our coach this summer.
I didn’t take any pictures of our drive, but I should’ve. More orange barrels, more construction, more traffic, more miles of bad road . . .
And! We got sprayed with an oil/tar mixture as we were forced to drive by one of those road construction machines that was spraying the road before the asphalt could go down. Tiny black/brown spots all over us! What an unbelievable mess that was for Blaine to clean up! He just did the windshield when we arrived, and he’s hoping the stuff on our paint will come off easily. He had to use WD-40, Windex, water and plenty of elbow grease to remove it.
And that’s it for a while, as we sit in the Akron, Ohio area and visit with family and friends for the next six weeks. Join us again the beginning of November to see what kind of adventures God has in store for us!
