And Then Some     01/19/22

Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s house until my son Shelah grows up.”  For he thought, “He may die too, just like his brothers.”  So Tamar went to live in her father’s house. ~ Genesis 38:11     We don’t know how old Shelah is at this time, but regardless, Judah is willfully defying God’s order for a levirate marriage because he’s afraid of losing his third son. In much the same way as Judah (and Jonah), how often do we try to go against what we know God expects from us?  And even though God already knows how defiant and willfully disobedient we will be, He chose us to be His anyway!  Now there’s something to ponder!  And be thankful for!

Blaine began his day by biking to Publix – for bananas.  He came home with bananas, and then some, adding sushi and donuts!  Don’t get me wrong.  I LOVE both those things and love that he bought them, but we keep saying we’re going to cut back and/or eat better . . . .   I really don’t think donuts qualify.  But they sure were delicious!!  And as I’ve stated in the past, the sushi is wonderful!

We moved to Louisiana today.  Just to the east of New Orleans.

Until next time!
We both like this building for some reason. : )

It turned into a difficult 206 miles for Blaine due to wind, spots of rain, narrow lanes, abundant traffic and crazy drivers.  We also sat in a near-standstill traffic jam for nearly 30 minutes.  It turned out to be nothing more than a short (maybe 25 yards?) lane closure in a construction area – – that no one was working on.  The lane didn’t need closed if no one was working today.  Sigh . . .

We had to drive under a dark, ominous cloud for a while.
Into a tunnel that goes under the water.
Just seems like it would be easier to build a bridge . . .
This is the brightest tunnel we’ve ever been through!
Every once in a while, it would rain hard for a minute or two, then stop.
Then rain, then stop . . . . It was kinda weird.
Crossing into Mississippi.
And now . . . the traffic jam.
And of course, as always, there are those who zoom up the closed lane and try to squeeze in line,
in order to gain a few spaces.
That’s it. That’s all the longer the lane closure was!
Almost missed the Louisiana border sign.
Didn’t expect to see that alongside the freeway! : )
It doesn’t really look like it in the picture, but we’re headed up a long way.
And now we have to go back down.
Not sure way they made it so high.
This was a really nice section of road!
Those are pecan trees!
They belong to a pecan farm.
This train track runs right alongside people’s homes!
And it’s near the campground, so hopefully it’s not running much . . . .

And I had to co-pilot more today because our gps stopped working.  Turns out I’m not very good at it these days.  Blaine said several times, “I can’t miss this turn!”  meaning a specific one.  Guess what?  He missed the turn.  Because I told him not to turn when he should’ve.  In my meager defense, my vision isn’t sharp enough to read street names until I’m right on top of them, and this particular turn was more of a curve than a straight 90⁰ turn, so we missed the short turn only lane.  He ended up following a truck that turned on a later road, and ended up okay, which is good, because there was absolutely NO place to turn around when you have a 40’ motorhome and a Jeep in tow; so you won’t be reading my obituary just yet.
