And now the second dream. “In my dreams I also saw seven heads of grain, full and good, growing on a single stalk. After them, seven other heads sprouted – withered and thin and scorched by the east wind. The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads. I told this to the magicians, but none could explain it to me.” ~ Genesis 41:22-24 In the past, Pharaoh’s magicians were able to appease his need for knowledge of the meaning of his dreams and probably other things as well. But not this time. This time, the dreams came directly from God Himself, and only a man of God’s choosing can give meaning to them. And Joseph is that man. And God’s plan continues to take visible shape to us. I wonder if God purposely prevented Pharaoh’s men from being able to interpret the dream so that Pharaoh had no choice but to listen to the cupbearer and bring in Joseph? Wouldn’t that be just like God? 😊
How is it possible that some people refuse to see God anywhere? Everywhere we look He’s there! Gives Romans 1:20 new meaning: “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” A botanical garden and nature center is a great place to see evidence of God!
It was further away than we thought. Expecting it to be a 20-30 minute drive, we were a bit disheartened when it turned into almost an hour. And then we got to the place, and didn’t see much in the way of flora (plants, etc.) nor fauna (wildlife, critters, etc.). The cages were empty, and the only flowers in sight we’re in pots by the front door. Still, we came this far, we might as well stay, right?
I’m talking about the South Texas Botanical Garden and Nature Center.
And once we discovered where the winter quarters were, it got much better! Sure, there wasn’t anything in the outside gardens, but they had greenhouses. And sure, there weren’t any critters outside, but they had separate bird and reptile winter homes we could enter. And sure, there weren’t any butterflies in their butterfly house (Well, that’s a lie. We discovered two.), but we could just imagine what the place must be like once winter’s over because we’ve been in one or two in our distant past.
We had a wonderful few hours! There was a walking trail. There was even a parrot talk where we were encouraged to hold Buddy and feed him pistachios, and hold Tango, and pet Molly. There were others who talked with you, or seemed to beg you to let them out.
Such a beautiful place, with friendly people – both staff and volunteers.
Soak up the evidence with us! And thank our Creator God Who chooses to bless us with such variety and intricacies of nature!
Tomorrow, we’ll have a different experience to share!
