Today, we’ll begin the amazing prophecy revealed in Daniel Chapter 11. There aren’t really lessons here as we’ve done previously, but instead, a lot of precise prophetic history, which is so exciting! We are so fortunate to live in a time that we can look back and confirm the prophecy which is given in such incredible detail! Fortunately for me, I’ve already spent countless hours researching this before when I was teaching a study group years ago, and also fortunately, I saved everything on a flash drive. 😊 Believe it or not, besides information about these men, I was even able to find ‘pictures’ of them. So here we go . . . .
First, let’s learn a bit about our current king – Cyrus The Great – that you won’t see in Scripture.
Current King – Cyrus The Great
- Born 576BC in modern day Iran
- Died Dec 530 in battle with a people group called the Massagates (now modern day Kazakhstan)
- King from 559-530BC
- Succeeded by his son Cambyses II
- Known for his achievements in human rights, politics and military strategy, and the 1st postal system
- The 1st world leader referred to as “The Great”
- Children (sons):
Cambyses II (Cyrus’ father was the 1st Cambyses)
Guamata
Atossa
Artystone
- The Cyrus cylinder (a record of his reign) was discovered at the site of Babylon in 1878
- Made a proclamation to free the Jewish exiles in 538BC
- Isaiah 44:28 – 45:13 tells of Cyrus freeing the exiles 200 years before he became king and did that very thing!
Now on to our day . . . .
It’s moving day, but since it was a short 90-mile 1 1/2-mile drive, we left late, and since we left late, Blaine opted for a hike without his “ball and chain” holding him back. 😊
So he’s hiking along at his preferred brisk pace, when he suddenly heard the train and began literally trying to chase it down. He made it to Lover’s Leap where he was able to snag a few pictures just as it came out of the tunnel. Good job, baby!
Our drive was pretty uneventful, but it was windy, and as you can see, the roads were narrow. Pretty drive though – in a Fallish sort of way!
