. . . . and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the others.  When he has gained power by his wealth, he will stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece. ~ Daniel 11:2b

Xerxes The Great

Xerxes (aka Xerxes The Great)

  1. Son of Darius I
  2. Ruled 486-465BC
  3. Grandson of Cyrus The Great (Darius married Cyrus’ daughter)
  4. Very wealthy
  5. Attacked Greece in 480BC (per M. Henry, his army was at least 800,000 strong but was soundly defeated)
  6. He was murdered by the commander of his own royal guard
  7. Xerxes is the same king that’s mentioned in Esther (Esther 1:1 begins in 483BC). The 180-day banquet noted in Esther was probably military strategy for the attack on Greece in 480BC.  According to the Archeological Bible, they believed that being drunk enhanced their connection to the gods.
  8. Just a reminder, these prophecies were given to Daniel in 536BC – 56 years prior to when it happened.

We spent our day refilling our coffers, working in the kitchen, and outdoor coach chores.  Oh!  I put the final touches on Christmas gifts too.

And that’s all folks!

Except the side effects of our Covid vaccine from this morning started kicking in. . . .
