All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” – which means, “God with us.” (Isaiah 7:14) When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave Him the name Jesus. ~ Matthew 1:22-25 Matthew offers a lot of references to prophecy fulfillment. Twelve times, he specifically says things like, ‘all this took place to fulfill . . .’ Forty-seven times, he quotes Old Testament Messianic passages. It is of utmost importance for us to realize how perfectly Scripture was confirmed – and will continue to be. And it is of utmost importance that we see Jesus for Who He is – the Son of God Who came to be with us. He is not just some prophet. He is not just a wise man with a good cause. Nor is He just a ‘good teacher’. He is the very Son of God, Who came to walk with us, and talk with us, and teach us Truth, and show us the Father. Throughout his gospel, Matthew points these things out to us. Who do you say Jesus is? How do you describe Him to others? What characteristics do you focus on? This is what each of the Gospel writers are doing – – describing ‘their Jesus’ to us. Matthew focuses on Him as King. Mark the Servant of all. Luke, His human aspect more so than King and God. John the fact that He is God Himself in human form.
We come to Highlands Hammock for the pizza! There’s a small privately owned pizza joint called Vincent’s that serves wonderful pizza!
Unfortunately, Vincent’s closed. ☹ The owner retired and sold the place. It’s now Zach’s Pizza & BBQ. And it doesn’t have very good reviews. Later in the week, we’ll seek out a new place.
The campsites here are pretty tight. That’s why I took two morning pictures.
Today was mostly a biking day with a couple of walking trails thrown in for good measure. It was a great day!
They’re necessary to prevent huge fires from popping up and taking over the area.
It’s about 2 1/2 miles long, is one way and has a bike lane.
They’re trying to recapture at least a part of that.
I think they first planted these trees 2-3 years ago when we were here.
You really have to experience it yourself to understand.
It’s stunning to see in person!
It only has one handrail.
