Baking and a NWR 9/3-4/17

September 3rd was Sunday and Blaine found us another wonderful Baptist church to visit.  First Baptist in Harrington (about 10 minutes from home).  Such wonderful, God-filled people!  We were surprised to see the number of people on their prayer list who have Lyme Disease in this small congregation – 6!

After services, I spent the day in the kitchen baking cookies and lasagna.  Yummy!

Monday, we hit the trails again.  But first, we went to check out the water level at high tide in the bay at our campground.

An hour drive, mostly on a dirt road, took us to the Petit Manan area and a National Wildlife Refuge.

We decided on two different trails.  First up – The Hollingsworth Trail and Petit Manan Point.  1.8 mile loop trail that was a bit rugged and took us to the Atlantic Ocean in a mostly quiet bay.

This area is a Cedar Swamp

After that was the Lobster Trail.  The Lobster Trail was actually a spur off the Birch Point Trail.  4.3 miles round trip.  We discussed doing both, but 6 miles is about our limit on most days.  Although a lot depends on the type of hiking we’re doing – flat, root covered, rocky, ‘mountain climbing’ . . . . . This trail was pretty easy and took us to another bay area.  And several view points.  Plus, we had to watch our time a bit because we had a date with a lobster dinner at 5:30.  😊

Blaine’s looking for the red chairs. : )

Just some interesting info

Someone made these nice wooden signs and put them along the trail.
Each one had 3 pull-up panels to read.

Fall is creeping into Maine

We stopped at the grocery store on the way home, and this is why even after 2 ½ months of almost constant exercise, I don’t believe I’ve shed a single pound!  Living full-time with Blaine makes me eat too many things I shouldn’t.  I know you might be thinking, “But it’s a holiday!”  But this is almost every day . . .   : )

Yes, it was as good as it looks!

At 5:30pm on the dot, there was a knock on our door.  Dinner was served!  3 ½# total! We started outside because of the potential for a mess, but it was just too cold tonight.

After dinner, we headed back to the water for a lovely sunset.

Happy Labor Day!
