Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way. ~ Romans 14:13
There was one good thing about being sequestered for another day. We were able to ‘spring clean’ the coach. And no, I don’t have any pictures. But to reward ourselves, we feasted on grilled steaks, baked potatoes and salad.
And Blaine went out and bought something to enable him to go out into the sun tomorrow. I’ll save the surprise for tomorrow’s post. But he also brought home a surprise for me! Dunkin Donuts! Yum! Thanks, hon!
Here’s another installment from my God Moments Journal:
Now, I want to talk about Ted and Terri’s oldest daughter, Michelle. Michelle and I were definitely not close when Terri was alive. In fact, we kinda clashed. Probably in part because Michelle was a young teen (just 14 when Terri died) and probably in part because Terri and I were so much alike. And maybe a host of other reasons that I’m unaware of. But that being said. Terri had told me once that Michelle had a real desire for keeping close with family. That she absolutely loved family reunions and knew or wanted to know and keep tabs on everyone. After Terri died and Ted whisked the kids away – new step-mom, new church, new town, new state far from Ohio – the girls were both devastated. Michelle more so than Jennifer. The family had a real tough adjustment period, but God prevailed. Occasionally, and usually over the summer, Michelle and Jen came home to Ohio. Then Jen got married and started a family of her own and it became just Michelle coming. And each time, Michelle called me to schedule a visit. I was always very flattered that she would want to spend time with me. I believed it was just to have some sort of a connection with her mom. But then, recently, lo and behold, I got a call from Michelle. She had a new job working for an international student ministry on the Arizona State University campus (Life Among the Nations). One of the requirements for her job was to have a prayer partner. She was calling to ask me. I proceeded to tell her that, of course I would, but that she needed to know that prayer was without a doubt my weakest area! I couldn’t believe, out of all the people she knew, that she would choose me! But she calls faithfully every other Thursday. We talk about what’s been going on in our lives. Especially how God is working. And we pray over the phone with each other. And she, much like her dad, has taught me even more about prayer. It’s been wonderful!
Funny how God works, isn’t it? To this day, even though our prayer partner days are long over, I still hear from Michelle on occasion, and if we visit Arizona like we’re planning in 2020, we’ll get to see her – and maybe the rest of the family, too – which would be wonderful!
