What A Rock! 08/08/19

Forillon National Park, Gaspe, Quebec, Canada

The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it.  ~ Proverbs 10:22

Remember when I told you the gps wasn’t cooperating for our next destination?  Well, today’s the day.  We started out at 11:15 this morning and the thing insisted that we would arrive at 8PM, 537 kilometers later.  We finally figured out what it was doing when we crossed a bridge in the town of Gaspe and it suddenly changed over to an arrival time of 12:58pm after only 70 kilometers!  (In other words, we went 66 miles in under two hours and even with all the mountains we climbed up and down, were able to maintain 7.8mpg) It seems they’ve built a new bridge since our gps was installed.  A much sturdier bridge that can now handle a rig our size, because just before we crossed over, the gps announced that we were too heavy for it.  And we could tell, it was a newer bridge.  Probably much larger as well.

Blaine had to drive in the rain the whole way, and we set up in drizzle.  Made for not so great pictures.  A lot of gray.  But I must say, it was a very interesting road we traveled on!  Poor Blaine!  He had his hands full on this narrow, twisty-turny road!  But he did an excellent job and between God’s provision and Blaine’s skill, we made it safely to our next destination.

Leaving the campground.
Every time we passed this house, it caught my eye.
I think if I was going to live here, I’d choose this house. : )
We bought gas for the Jeep at that station the other day!
Heading to Perce!
Sorry, I can’t add those little asterisk thingies.
Remember this bridge for the next couple of days!
You’ll see it again. : )
Uh oh . . . that’s a pretty sharp turn for a 40-footer and a Jeep . . .
Road work . . .
Wow! This is impressive even in the rain!
Sometimes I really wish the pictures we take could do better justice.
Entering the town of Perce. We haven’t seen so many people and cars on a street for quite some time.
And I wondered at the many who were wearing the same blue rain gear,
until we realized they were from a whale-watching cruise. : )

Camping du Phare a Perce, Perce, Quebec, Canada

We’re here!
Wonder where they’ll put us?
We have a reservation, but weren’t allowed to pre-choose our site here.
It should be a really nice place to spend a week!
That’s our front yard.
That’s our side view. We’re packed in really tight, but that’s okay. We’ll be gone a lot. : )
That’s out the back.
This neighbor from our right side, was just as friendly as her picture looks.
Even when her white dog (a Great Pyrenees, in case you’re wondering) drug her over to me,
she refused to look at me or smile or speak a sound.
I just don’t understand people like that. . . . A smile’s a smile the world around.
Whether you know the language or not.
I guess this is the lighthouse the campground is named for, but this is as close as we can get to it.

By the way – – – ‘phare’ is the French word for ‘lighthouse’.  Why?  I have no idea.  And the town, according to the English-speaking (Thank You, Lord!) Visitor Center employee we talked with today, is pronounced PEAR-see.  Or is it Pear-SEE?  I forget where the accent goes. . .  But Danielle was wonderful!  She even told us about her ‘secret place’ to kayak.  We’ll have to check it out!

This Perce Rock the town is known for, is quite something to behold!  Even in the overcast and rain.  What a sight!  We’re planning on paddling out to see it up close and personal one of the days we’re here.

This is outside at the back of our coach. : )
That’s Perce Rock!
