Easing Into It 09/04/19

Boston Minutemen Campground, Littleton, Massachusetts

He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises Him.  ~ Proverbs 14:2

Today was spent with a bit more activity as we took to the trails around Littleton.  It wasn’t a particularly exciting or interesting day, but it was good to get out in the fresh air and move around after our slothful day yesterday.  Pretty sure slothfulness is a sin.  But I think that only applies if it becomes a habit. . . . At least I hope so!

Aw man! Sure burst my bubble!
I suppose next they’ll tell me there’s no Tooth Fairy or leprachauns!
There were quite a few of these rock walls in here.
We found out tomorrow that the farmers in the area would pull them out of the ground where they wanted to grow stuff, but they didn’t want to haul them away, so they made walls out of them. : )
YIKES!! Now that’s a “Keep Out” sign if ever there was one!
That’s the gargoyle house.
They sure have a lot of wood piled up!

We arrived at the top and sat for a bit before heading back out on the trail.

This is the overlook they promised for this trail. That white bag is a geocache.
Blaine looked inside, but I scampered off down the rocks aways because there was a spider on it and he inadvertently flung it in my direction. . . .

After a few hundred yards, Blaine realized that he’d never taken a picture of the view from the top.  I made him turn around.

That’s our view. I’ll bet it’s gorgeous in the Fall!
Driving to another trail, we passed this former depot.
Remember back when we rode the commuter train the first day, and I showed you pictures they had on boards while we were waiting at the stop?
Well, that’s what the train depot looks like today. It’s a junk yard! Too bad.

After partaking of our packed lunch at a playground/running track, we took on another trail.

We sat at a kiddie table on the playground for lunch today. : )
There’s a trail that leaves from here.
Someone painted orange arrows on the rocks to mark the way.
How long before those disappear? There were no other trail markers. . . .
What do you suppose that is?
Deep into the woods, but we could see it from the trail.
All the Fall colors on one leaf!! How cool is that?!?!?
Believe it or not, that’s our trail. There was an orange arrow painted on it. . . .
Turned out to be right beside a house. With solar panels!
That dark spot in the middle isn’t dirt or a bug. It’s part of the flower!
Queen Anne’s Lace if I’m not mistaken.
A bumper crop of acorns this year!
The trail just went around this overgrown field and then right back to where we entered the area. You could hardly see that purple stuff up close, but if you looked out, there was a lot of it! Pretty!
We walked on the track because a lot of other people were using it as well. Very nice and quite cushy!

Back in the Jeep and we headed over to the local grocery store in search of something for dinner.  They had a really nice selection of seafood, so we settled on a couple of things – swordfish steaks and one small lobster.  Not sure if we’ve had swordfish before, but it was really good!

If I remember right, this one’s almost a pound.
It was just right for us to be able to say we had lobster in New England. Where else can you get a whole steamed lobster for less than six bucks : )
Doesn’t it look good?
We marinated it for about an hour or so in teriyaki sauce and some other stuff that I can’t remember.
Blaine’s so good! Isn’t it beautiful?

And that’s it for today.  Tune in tomorrow for another round of history as we head over to Minute Man National Park, where we’ll learn more about the British march to Concord and Paul Revere’s ride.
