A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps. ~ Proverbs 14:15
Short and simple today. We discussed our upcoming anniversary and where to celebrate, settling on an Italian restaurant in the nearby town of Binghamton called Little Venice.
We also decided, following more discussion, that we should go tonight. So we did.
The rest of the day was spent . . . . blogging and making reservations, of course!
We (or at least I) was a bit concerned as we approached the city and the gps took us through a sorta seedy view of the city, but the restaurant was fine, and the food? Some of the best Italian we’ve ever had! No wonder they’ve been in business for 73 years!
It’s not a fancy place, unless you check out the walls. There’s art work on every available space! More along the lines of what I expected to see at the Fine Arts Museum. It’s an accumulated collection belonging to the family that owns the place. Very nice!
They also have meat logs, as opposed to meat balls. The grandma thought they’d cook better as logs, and so a tradition was born. They offer them individually, so since our meals didn’t include them, we ordered a single and shared it. Very good!! Their noodles are also homemade and so’s their sauce, and you could tell. All in all, a great choice for dinner.
But we were so full! We had to go walk around town for a while! Their historic downtown is walking distance from the restaurant and people were everywhere.
They were preparing to host a two-day event called “Luna”. It starts about 8 or 9pm. We won’t be here that long. Plus, when we looked it up, there were thousands and thousands of people who’ve attended in the past. Do you remember how I shared about the projections on Walt Disney World’s Cinderella castle? This is like that, only it’s on several buildings around downtown. In addition, they were testing the sound as we were walking around. If we’d stayed, we’d probably be deaf by the time we left. Guess they intend for the entire town to hear it at once.
Beautiful town, though!
