The First Move

Moving day was March 18th.  We had plenty of help – Blaine, our two sons, my brother, his son and our oldest grandson.

THANKS GUYS!!!!

THANKS, KELLY!

My sister-in-law also came and was a big help to me as I completed the final wipe downs and frig packing, etc.  She also took lots of great pictures for us!

The first batch went to the Hartville Thrift Store.

The guys tightly packed a 15’ U-haul and headed over.  We opted to take things there because all the proceeds go to Christian charity.  They were happy to take absolutely anything we wanted to part with (including a box full of hangers, if you can believe it!  And yes, I asked!).  The only things they don’t take are TVs, child car seats and cribs.  The only thing they require is that anything that’s supposed to work – does.

So long, Long Road!

The last stop was Blaine’s parent’s home.  They were gracious enough to allow us to store things in their large, dry basement – short term or as long as they live there.  Of course, they were in Florida at the time.  I wonder if they would have been so accommodating if they’d been there and saw the quantity of stuff – even after we purged so much!

We filled their refrigerator, lined boxes of food and kitchen supplies all around their kitchen and living room . . . . . . .

. . . . and filled a corner of their basement with shelves and boxes and things we want to store long-term.

Organizing our things in the basement

We stayed there for two weeks, until the day before they came home.  And spent the time trying to use up all the food we brought!  We didn’t even come close.

Work commute time:  From Long Road – 15 – 20 minutes

From the in-law’s – 15-20 minutes. (they only live 1 1/2 miles away)
