A Good Travel Day 11/29/19

Carson Village, Birmingham, Alabama

Today was moving day.  We traveled 252 miles away from my brother in 4 ½ hours; actually keeping to our original schedule!  Blaine said it was “about as easy a drive as you can have.”  Thanks, Lord!  We surely needed that!  What did I do with all those hours?  I spent the time sending our pictures from the past week to David and my mom (not ALL of them 😊) and working on and ordering Christmas gifts.  Get ready Mom and Dad – UPS and FedEx will soon be beating a path to your door!  😊

We really don’t like to see that when we driving down the road nowadays!

Once we hit the Mississippi boarder, there was soooo much trash lining the expressway!  And the ‘parking area’ (not really a rest area, just a place to stop if you need to) where we stopped for a minute so Blaine could take a break, was just as bad.  Blaine says I should write the governor.  It truly was horrible!  In addition, many billboards we passed advertised ‘Clean Restrooms’ as their main selling point (the words with the largest letters), so you have to think this must be an issue in Mississippi.  It left us wondering if our campground would be clean.

This is just a small sample of the trash at the stop.
This sign doesn’t have the ‘clean restrooms’ as the largest letters, but the ones on the expressway did.

Okatoma Resort & RV Park, Hattiesburg, Mississippi

The campground Blaine chose is very clean, and very nice.  Whew!  The neighbors are a little close, but the rest of the area is filled with space – there’s lots of land here, and lots of ponds scattered here and there and everywhere, and the owners/volunteers are very welcoming..  And it’s quiet, and would be very, very dark if not for the security lights.

It was a pretty long drive to get into the Park on this road – took us about 10 minutes.
And in case you’re interested, 654 acres of this wide open space are for sale. . .
Not the campground though. : )
They had these cute little signs along the way.
Each one had a different critter on it. : )
What in the world happened here??
Are the cows included in the sale?
Still not there . . .
Oh boy! We wondered what would happen if someone came the other way,
but discovered later that this part of the road is one-way.

We had a few minutes before the sun set to take a walk around.

They were grading this part earlier today.
It’s this color because the sun’s setting.
Pretty sunset over one of the lakes.
We better get home quick, we didn’t bring a flashlight, except for our phones.
