We Need A Little Christmas     11/29/17

Wednesday was shopping day.  Not groceries.  Just shopping.  The kind Blaine never had to do before he retired because I did it on my days off (usually Fridays).

We needed some Christmas décor.  Yes, we saved some things before we downsized, but we didn’t bring any of it with us.  Once we started living in the coach, we realized it just wasn’t feasible.  So, after three stops we now have all of three decorations, from where else?  WalMart.  Less than $30.  I always hated shopping at WalMart, but since we’ve hit the road, it seems to be just about the only place we shop.

Something for the outside . . .

Something for the yard . . .

And a tree for the inside!
It’s a live tree and came with six ornaments and a bow for the top!
I don’t know how it will survive all the snow they sprayed on it – – nor our lack of green thumbs.

I also needed something a bit festive to wear.  I have church dresses – and those of you who’ve seen what I wear to church, know they’re not suitable for walking around town in.  😊  And I have ‘hiking’ clothes.  Which aren’t suitable for going to concerts or dinner in.

I found a very light weight cream sweater with gold accents.  Actually, Blaine found it.  I wouldn’t have chosen it, but the three I picked looked awful for one reason or another.  His did not.  So, now I have the top, but I know that I have no jewelry to go with it.  You know what that means, ladies . . . 😊

He had to go jewelry shopping with me. 😊  But did we get a deal!!!  Gold and ‘diamond’ necklace.  $38 price tag.  Some unknown percentage off because all their jewelry was on sale.  30% Kohl’s discount from an email.  But still.  The total was $5.48!!  And then Blaine said something incredible – – “We could have gotten the other neckless too!”  Do you have any idea how hard it was for me not to go back into the store???  If he’d been at work, that’s exactly what I would’ve done!

We bought other things, but I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about that.

We came home and decorated, then went for a real walk on the only trail in this Park – about 2 miles.

Ferns! We haven’t seen those for months!

I don’t know, but maybe these are some kind of palm ferns?

This walkway goes behind a cabin and down to the Edisto River

Take a look at this root system!

This river is beautiful!  Can’t wait to get on it!

On the way home, on the street where we live, on the corner lot lives a very large and intimidating 245# horse of a dog with a very low and loud voice.  Yes, I got it right and yes you read it right – 245 pounds.  We talked to the owner for a bit.  They’re from Connecticut.  The dog is 2 ½ years old.  “He’s a bit aggressive at first, but once he gets to know you, he’s fine.”

Yeah, well, I don’t think we’ll be getting to know him.  We have no interest in getting past the ‘bit aggressive’ stage.
