The Highest Point 02/15/20

Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis, Texas

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.  ~ Proverbs 18:24

We had visitors this morning!
Sorry, there’s nothing for you in that cooler. : )

Today, in spectacular weather, we tackled the trek to the highest peak in the Park, which led to the Limpia Creek Vista – an elevation of 5,695’ and requiring a hike of about 9 miles.  We can actually see it (much closer than nine miles 😊)from our campsite.

In order to hike this trail, you must first stop by the Visitor Center and get a gate code.  We don’t know why.  Maybe that’s how they keep track of who’s out there?  Anyway, the guys got us through the gate.

And off we go!

That is one very tall plant!
Blaine and Brad took off on a spur trail shortly before we arrived back at the Jeep. Jeannine and I sat at a picnic table beside the Jeep and waited for them. We had a nice lady chat. : )
The rest of the pictures are from their exploration.

We saw a lot of scenery and worked up a great appetite and all the while, fellowshipping with friends, which makes nine miles go much more quickly.  😊

For dinner, we re-visited The Drug Store, where I ordered a patty melt, and the others ordered dinners.  We came to the general consensus that this place either needs to stick to burgers, or work on their recipes.  Plus the mashed potatoes were barely warm.  How do you not keep homemade potatoes hot?  You keep the burner on low and give them a stir every now and then – especially before you dish them up.  Should be easy for a restaurant!

Great last day!
