Patagonia Lake State Park, Patagonia, Arizona
The King’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases. ~ Proverbs 21:1
Today was a rainy day here in Patagonia. But later in the day, once the rain stopped, Blaine went out for a hike. Me? Bet you can guess! I spent my day glued to my chair with my hands chained to my laptop and mouse.
So Blaine’s been gone for quite a few minutes, when the showers begin anew! I texted him to see if he had sense enough to get in out of the rain, but he was off-trail and had nowhere to go. Turns out, he doesn’t melt after all! But he was pretty wet when he got back. 😊
But today’s shower escapades didn’t end there.
First, some background . . .
We don’t have full hook-ups at this Park. For those of you who are new, or who just haven’t paid much attention in the past, that usually means that I shower at the Park facilities if we’re stationed for more than 4-5 days. That’s because we have nowhere except our gray tank for the water to go, and we need that space for hand and dishwashing, teeth brushing, etc. We don’t have the space for my shower water. Especially if I have to wash my hair. It’s never been a problem for me to walk to the Park’s shower facilities, and they’re usually pretty nice. I’ve also discovered that these places are generally empty around dinner time – between 5-6pm.
I’d already taken a peek inside this one and everything seemed almost new, and very clean. So I packed my bag (about 5:30pm) and up the hill, and then the set of stairs, I went. As expected, the place was empty. I chose my stall and it was then that I discovered – –
There’s no shower curtain or door on the shower! There’s a door at the entrance to the dressing room area they provided, but not on the shower itself. Well. It wasn’t exactly warm here today. That means the shower area was pretty chilly, and with no door or curtain to cordon it off, it stayed that way! And the ceiling’s high too!
And there were no hooks to hang my stuff up, except on the back of the door – outside the shower area. But at least the water was hot, and the water pressure was good although by the time I was done, there was nothing but hot water coming out of the showerhead.
But guess what? With no curtain or door, water was splashing all over the place! Thankfully my clothes remained dry, but my flip-flops were soaked by the time I was done. Good thing I didn’t wear my sneakers!
And now, for the piece de resistance! (and yes, it’s really spelled that way, except for the missing squiggly lines over top two of the letters, because that’s actually a French phrase that means ‘main dish’.)
As I was beginning to get dressed, all the lights went out! Apparently, there are motion detectors for the lights by the front door. Fortunately, it wasn’t quite sunset yet!
So. Note to self. Don’t go take a shower anywhere near time for sunset! Or else, take a buddy along to jump around by the door until ready to exit the bath house.
The best part of the day? I made it through February! Almost caught up! Feels like showers of blessings! 😊
