We are now old, retired people as of June 1st and 2nd! Well, Blaine’s old – I’m two months behind him . . . Of course, we’re still not eligible for most senior discounts and I think that’s a good thing.
Anyway, we really didn’t do much to celebrate. My last day of work was VERY emotional as I said my second round of ‘goodbyes’ (the first was my Bible Study group) to my dear friend and co-worker, Doris and my new friend and replacement, Dianna. It was a difficult day for all of us. I had said a fond farewell to other co-workers Jamie, Erin and Kevin previously. I was too emotionally drained to do any type of celebrating.
Blaine’s experience was a lot different – no crying involved. 😊 He had a buffet breakfast at Virtues in the hospital, then his bosses wanted to have lunch with him and his replacement, Nick. By the time he got home, he wasn’t able to eat the lasagna dinner I had planned! I guess that’s the difference – women cry and give gifts, men eat!
