After such a spectacular breakfast, I didn’t think the day could get much better. I was wrong.
After a quick discussion about what to do with our day, we decided to kayak on a small lake we’d seen from Route 2 (the main road that goes past the campground). We drove over, blew up the kayak and set sail. We had it all to ourselves – a nice, quiet, calm time with beautiful though somewhat cloud-covered mountains surrounding us.
Then. It happened.
We spotted a bald eagle! It was at the opposite end of the lake, and really all we could see was a flash of white. Then it landed in a tree and we headed over to see if we could get closer.
Once we got close enough to confirm it was an eagle, it took off again, swooping gracefully just above the lake and landing in a tree across the lake…… and also across a train track that runs through the middle of the lake.
Hmmmmm. What to do? We wanted to get closer, but there were tracks in our way. Time to portage the boat! Out of the boat, up and over the tracks, back in the boat and make a bee-line for the eagle.
And now we can see – a nest!
As you can see, God chose to bless us tremendously! Mr. & Mrs. Bald Eagle in a nest right beside the water! Glorious!
