Run for the Play-Offs! 9/1/17

Thanks to a suggestion from his older brother, Blaine has been able to listen to almost every Cleveland Indians Game since we left.  He’s also been able to watch quite a few of them off the satellite when it’s a national game.  But there’s nothing quite like hearing ‘The Voice of the Indians’, Tom Hamilton, call a game!  They are currently in first place in their division.  GO TRIBE!!

This morning we walked around the streets of St. Andrews and took some pictures.  It’s a picturesque town – even the back streets – and the pictures won’t do it justice.  And the deer were still around in the same place.  Sometimes the lighting wasn’t the best because it was 9-9:30am, but we did the best we could.  😊

Here’s the house with the gorgeous red flowers!

This place belongs to an artist. It’s all overgrown with ivy, but . . . .

also has some really pretty flowers and . . . .

a bear. : )

This is for the guys.  Take a look at the car . . .

They had signs on some of the buildings/houses.
Below is a picture of the one on this building.
Also, the following picture is of a door we saw on the side. : )

I don’t know what’s in it now.

Alice in Wonderland’s door perhaps?

This is the St. Andrews court house – the back of it

This is the front (street side anyway). The placement of the entrance reminded us of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.

The red building is a Christmas shop named
“Scrooge and Marly’s”
Cute, huh??

Then it was time to pack up and leave Canada.

We spent about 30 minutes re-entering the US, but at a different Customs area in St. Stephen because we were on an expressway due to the motorhome.  The agent came inside and looked around, but he was quite friendly and careful while he inspected us.

Waiting for our turn
11:38am – 12:04pm

Whew! They let us back in!
The texts we shared with our sons caused us to ROFL!

Pretty easy short drive (about an hour) down eastern Maine as we headed to our first destination – Sunset Point Campground in Harrington.

As we were approaching our stop, we noticed fog across the road and in the pine forests on either side of the road.  It wasn’t fog.  They were battling a forest fire!  It was down to smoldering as we went past, but still . . .

They had to cancel a Sawyer Brown (country) concert for the safety of the people, in case it would flare up again.

Smoke from the fire on Route 1

Sunset Point was another wonderful find Blaine made!  Such nice level, long and wide sites!  And the picnic tables were covered, too.  They are also near the water, with a trail and benches to sit by the water.  They also provide a terrific place to watch the sunset.  In addition, the owner offers to steam lobsters and bring them to your door!  $8/pound!  I’ll save that for another day . . .

I can’t believe we never took a picture of our site!

Hurricane Harvey finally left Texas after 5 days.  We continue to pray for those people.  We can’t imagine what they will have to do to rebuild . . .

Eyes are now on a new Hurricane – Irma – headed for Florida.  Blaine’s sister and family are in Florida . . .
