The only thing we did on Sunday, the 10th was go to church and pray for Irma’s Hurricane victims. Blaine found this tiny Baptist church very near to us where we were greeted warmly. Eden Baptist Church was founded on July 5, 1799 and the building we worshiped in was built in 1875. For such a small place, they were pretty contemporary with new hymnals and ESV Bibles and Power Point presentations. The message was good too! 😊 It’s so interesting how many different styles we’ve encountered and yet all preach the same message. God’s Love and His plan of Salvation for everyone who believes.
I’m sure I don’t need to remind anyone about 9/11. We remember. We ALL remember . . .
Today we actually put our hiking sticks in the Jeep! They were a gift from my brother and sister-in-law several years ago and we just never needed them, but we took them with us because we thought we might be glad to have them one day. Lately, it’s been ‘that day’.
Of course, they don’t do any good laying in the Jeep, which is where they stayed all day. But at least they’re no longer left at home!
We drove about an hour to go 5 ½ miles as the gull flies, and as we went, I was able to text Blaine’s sister in Florida. They’re fine. She was raking her pool and grateful it wasn’t the walls of her house she had to rake. Praise The Lord! Of course many were not so fortunate and we continue to pray for them.
We went to another National Park at the end of the Schoodic (pronounced like schooner) Point Peninsula. To get here, you have to drive north around the bend and south, which is why it took an hour to go 5 miles.
We saw dolphins just off the banks and two seagulls fighting over a crab one drug up out of the water.
Four miles of up and downhill climbs and more crashing waves on rocky shores, but it was a glorious day as the deciduous trees slowly bleed color into their leaves.
And we found black raspberries as yet unpicked! And they weren’t sour! What an unexpected yummy find!
