Starting about 8am, there was drama across the street! And Blaine and I had the best time, watching and providing our own narration as to what was going on. 😊
There are 8 sites across from us that have ‘ocean views’. I suppose technically they do, but it’s really far away and much is blocked by the landscape. We’re spoiled, I know, having had sites that truly were right – – on – – the – – water. But anyway, this couple showed up and planted themselves in front of this fifth-wheel that was getting ready to leave. Remember, this campground doesn’t take reservations and all sites are first-come-first-serve. Other people came around as well and the fun began . . .
Hand gesturing, talking, posturing. Meanwhile, the guy that had been camping there just ambled around like nothing was going on.
We had to get ready and leave for church, so we didn’t see the final outcome, but it was pretty evident the couple would claim their coveted space.
On our way home, TWO HOURS LATER, we passed the fifth-wheel leaving. Two hours!! All to move up. And it was just to move, because they already had a spot down the hill from us. Crazy!
At least it provided some good humor for Blaine and I. 😊
We visited the same Baptist Church we went to last week. The pastor there has a sort of dry sense of humor that is very funny and always catches us off-guard. For example: He was asking for prayer requests and a woman raised her hand and said, “Me.”
“I’m sorry, we don’t do that here. We only pray for those outside the church.”
To which another woman in the congregation said, “Joan, go outside and we’ll pray for you.” And there were things like that throughout the service. Pretty funny. Pretty small, old church. Attendance last week was 27 (and 6 of us were visitors from the campground!) and everyone has gray hair – except us. But that’s just because I have mine dyed. : )
I rested the remainder of the day. I’m ashamed to admit that I was exhausted – mentally and physically. I needed a day to do absolutely nothing. No blogging, no hiking, no nothing. I took two naps. About 3:30pm I finally started functioning again and started making dinner. We wanted to eat early so we could go to the top of Cadillac Mountain for sunset.
Before my second nap, we did go out for some fresh air and discovered this secret hideaway in the campground.
We also sat on a bench for a while and just looked out over the beautiful Frenchman Bay.
The sunset was nice, but not the color we were expecting. The fog viewing, however was spectacular!
I don’t know why we can never get sunset pictures that reflect the true colors . . .
Tonight the sun was a cross between fuchsia and red.
I’m suspending the Indians update until we get to the playoffs. The division title is cinched, so there’s really nothing to report. 😊
