Fryin’ Eggs on the Bathroom Floor    9/25/17

Remember the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz?  After the water was thrown on her?  “I’m mel-ting!!”  That was me today.  Not the wicked part – the melting part.

We left Maine and ended up in the sweltering heat of Vermont.  Record-breaking heat.  We are soooo not used to this!  Temps jumped about 20-25 degrees for us in a matter of a few hours.  And yes, I know it was in the 80s in Maine yesterday, but there was shade, and there were ocean breezes to cool us off.  We didn’t need the air conditioner.

When we arrived, I began my normal protocol of cleaning and setting things to rights.  Blaine prepares us from the outside, I tackle the inside.  He plugged us in and cranked on the air, but the bathroom floor was actually almost blistering!  The engine sits underneath it and that, coupled with the heat made the tile floor almost untouchable.  I didn’t want to put the rugs back down for fear the rubber backing would melt.

There was no relief outside either.

There’s a couple who arrived shortly after us who are from Texas and driving a Tiffin Zephyr.  That’s about a half-mil coach.  And they have a beagle.  Awww!  Anyway, when we walked by, he said, “I might as well be at home!” (referring to the heat)

In fact, it was so dang hot that I saw a hound dog chasing a rabbit – and they were both walking!

That was clever and made you laugh (or at least snicker), didn’t it?  I can’t claim it.  I’m not that clever. But it perfectly describes today.

We’re at a very nice campground though – Kampfires, in Dummerston Vermont.  We’re heading east, toward family and friends.  😊

Here’s a little something from our evening discovery tour around the campground.

Look at this little guy we found today! Never seen one like this!
