HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BLAINE’S MOM, JOAN, TODAY!!!!  Blaine called her three times today before he got ahold of her – twice from the mountain while we were hiking.  She was busy being loved on!  I also sent a text message, but I don’t think they opened it yet.  😊

Funny that we had no service all week, except on that mountain!  I hate not being able to keep in touch!  But hopefully that will change when we pick up our new signal booster on Sunday.  (fingers and toes crossed!)

Since we only had a 2 ½ hour drive today, we wanted to re-visit the Stone Mountain Summit this morning.  What a blessing it was!  We only saw two other people while we were on the Summit, but passed at least 30 on our way back down.  Good thing we went when we did!  We enjoyed having the mountain to ourselves – so quiet and tranquil.  30 people talking, kids clamoring, dogs barking?  . . . Sorry.  Not here.

We went exploring on our way up.  This rock was off trail beside a resting bench we took advantage of. (Hey!  It was a very steep climb! And we still had more to go!)

This doesn’t really show how much of a drop off there was

It’s good to explore when you have a chance, you never know what you’ll find!

Then we arrived at the Summit.  I’m sure you’ll notice that some of the pictures are the same as the ones we took the other day, only this time, the distance was markedly increased!  Spectacular!

There I am, back at my tree. : )

Since it was dry, Blaine took off to do his own exploring – – right down the face of the mountain!  I was OK with it, until I witnessed him stumble a bit.  Mind you, it was just a tiny bit, but it still made my heart pound and my stomach clench!

Let’s play “Where’s Blaine?” in these three pictures!

But he discovered the Hutchinson Homestead!  See that building?  That’s the barn where we sat and ate lunch the other day!  Cool!  (Remember I told you the other day to remember that spot?)

Here’s another view from down there

Then he turned around and took a picture of me.  It shows even better the steepness of his climb.

Hel-looo down there!!

This afternoon, we moved on to our new piece of earth in Kings Mountain State Park, South Carolina.  It’s just across the North and South Carolina border.

Our new neighbors are much closer and the campground more crowded than the State Park we just left, but it will be fine.  We just get a bit spoiled when we’ve had one like Stone Mountain.  😊

Turned out, these are Michigan people!
When they discovered we were OSU, the mom drew a line in the leaves. : )
Rivalry no matter where in the world you are. : )

View from our front door.
The trees make it impossible for someone to set up camp next to us.
