This afternoon we headed out into the pouring, cold rain together.
Of course we did Bible Study first, which we do every morning, but I needed something to write about! We also did some menu planning and filled up the grocery list.
The plan was to try out a Bojangles for lunch and then for me to sit at the laundromat while Blaine went to Home Depot and then Walmart for groceries. Then he’d come pick me up and we’d head home.
So during our ½ hour drive to lunch, I went over everything on the list and made special notes where needed. The lunch food was good, but the condition of the building was awful. There were buckets on the floor catching leaks, it didn’t look real clean and when we used the bathrooms before we left? . . . well, let’s just say, we probably should have walked in the front door and then back out, but we were hungry.
Everything went according to plan.
Until we got back home.
After a 20-minute drive.
After the food was put away and I was doing the same with the laundry, I discovered I didn’t have my phone. We tore things apart looking and I tried desperately to remember where it could be – – left on the bench in the laundromat where I was sitting and waiting for Blaine! I thought I’d picked it up along with my Kindle, but evidently didn’t.
Blaine hit the road again. I cried and prayed.
Over an hour later, he returned. No phone.
To say I was devastated would be an understatement. I cried – a lot, I was sick to my stomach, I was angry with myself, I felt violated that someone would actually steal it.
Blaine was so good about it, but he was pretty distraught himself as he figured out how to cancel and stop access to my phone and our gmail, etc.
I used his phone and called the manager of the laundromat who was extremely helpful and sympathetic, even checking the cameras as he talked to me, but in the end, could do nothing. He also called his cleaning guy and promptly called me back. The last time the guy was there was early in the morning.
Terrible, terrible night!
By the way. This is NOT the kind of interesting I was referring to yesterday! Be careful what you wish for.
