Pretty Ho Hum     1/24/18

Henderson Beach State Park, Destin, Florida

It was on the cool side today, so we designated it domestic god/goddess day.  I had a list with about a dozen things on it and Blaine had almost that many on his list.

I’m pleased to report, the lists are much smaller now!

Not the most flattering picture, but just look what’s on his face!
It’s the only time they’ve ever been on us.
And yes, we’re still sweeping them up – a few nearly every day!

Blaine spotted this little guy out the bathroom window.

To celebrate, we took a walk around the campground and went to check out what was happening at the beach.

WOW! No waves today!
And they changed the flag color to reflect it!
Still beautiful though!

And as a reward for all our hard work, we went to Lulu’s for dinner.  Just as we were headed in, we looked up and saw this humongous flock of pelicans headed for us!  Blaine counted 85 and then took a picture!  (I didn’t have my phone with me.)

We heard about this place from one of Blaine’s friends.  Good choice!  Thanks!

It was VERY slow in this large seating area! But then again, we were there at 3pm.
Terrific view! Especially after they cleared the table. : )

We started with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes.  They were yummy!  At least the only one I ate was.  They brought our dinner out too quickly . . .  Leftovers!

Fried Green Tomatoes!

This is a basket for two.

Three-tail fish (never heard of it, but good!), shrimp, oysters and someone’s ingenious idea for tiny little crab claws, that would normally hit the trash.  They breaded them and put them in the basket. There were a lot. But it was pretty much all breading. Eh . .
There was also cole slaw, fries and jalapeno hushpuppies, which I didn’t think I’d like, but were actually very good!

Just take a look at this mural!  It went all around the marina building (next door to the restaurant)!  Stunning!  There’s even an official road sign on the street labeled “Whaling Wall viewing ahead on right”.

Just goes to show you . . . . there are amazing God Moments and interesting things to see and do every day!  Even when you think it’s a “ho hum” day!

Tomorrow is turtle day!

BTW – I discovered a “clean and green” way to remove hard water stains in our shower!  Make a paste from baking soda and white vinegar.  Wipe it on (I used a sponge) and let sit for 15 minutes.  Scrub lightly (same sponge) and rinse well.  Worked perfect!  Even on the glass door!
