Much Ado About Nothing     3/30/18

Jennings Ferry Campground, Akron, Alabama

I’m so glad we take pictures every day!  Otherwise, I’d never have remembered what when on today.  I was a mostly relaxing day for us, but we did venture out to see the lock system near here.  They have several Lock # (whatever) Parks near here.

What we saw was a dam, rather than a lock.  I don’t get it.  Where’s the lock?  But we came and we saw and we walked around a bit on some sort of trails.  Personally, I think they were actually trails made by fishermen trying to get to the water.  😊

Steep grade to get down to the water.

Our backyard is wonderful to sit in!  There are bluebirds and yellow warblers flying around and resting briefly on the branches as they trilled their lovely songs, as well as other song birds, the trees are sprouting leaves and the dogwoods and azaleas are blooming, and the river cruises by slow and lazy.

We couldn’t get any pictures, but there’s a sign board here in the campground with pictures of some of the different birds in the area.

And a practically perfect day, weather-wise as well.

A chicken dinner cooked over the open fire and warm enough we could eat outside.

The sunset and moonrise were lovely.

Look close and you’ll see the moon rising behind that leafed tree.

This demonstrates what a phenomenal fire-builder Blaine is!
Look how those logs are stacked!
His years in Boy Scouts are paying off!

Apple pies were cooked in the fire for dessert.

Ahhhhhhhh . . . .
