A Good Day For Honking     7/30/18

Penn Lake Park Campground, Marathon, Ontario, Canada

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb; sweet to the soul and health to the body.  Proverbs 16:24

There’s little to say today.  Our drive wasn’t quite uneventful though, as Blaine had to honk the coach’s horn – which is so loud, it’s a wonder those he used it on didn’t jerk off the road (or into us).  The culprits were a pickup truck, and semi and a raven.  A run in with the semi would have been quite devastating!  Not that the others wouldn’t have been,

but . . . .

During our 2 ½ hour, 115 mile drive, we encountered two road crews.

This truck’s load was so wide, he was knocking down orange cones as we went.

We have a “follow me” truck, but they had to keep stopping to reset the orange cones.

The guy on the passenger’s side was riding along with the door open and one foot out the door. : )

The line up.

Really? A large Food dealer way out here in the middle of nowhere??

So other than the momentary delays and the close calls, it was just a drive.  A means to an end.

Wawa RV Resort and Campground, Wawa, Ontario, Canada

We arrived early enough that we were able to head back out in the Jeep to the Wawa Visitor Center.  We didn’t really need much information because the campground owner gave us a town map, but Blaine had heard about the goose and wanted to see it.

Let me tell you!  It’s quite a goose!  And it’s visible from the road!  I’ll bet if he could talk, he’d have quite a loud honk as well!  : )

All the information was on info boards, so that’s what you get today.

How Wawa got it’s name.

The great and glorious goose of Wawa.

Where the goose came from.

Hey! We just learned about the Hudson’s Bay Company!

The Trans-Canada Highway is the road we’ve been driving on since we were in Thunder Bay.

To end the evening, Blaine decided to bake my favorite cake for my birthday even though it was a day early, since we knew we’d be gone all day tomorrow.

Boston Cream Pie!

I promise we’ll do better tomorrow!
