Aune-Osborn Campground, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
But this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “This invasion will never happen; it will never take place.” Isaiah 7:7
Our morning quiet time was invaded by the military at 7:00am. For reasons yet unknown, they showed up and removed the dock at the end of our “street” behind us, just on the other side of the fence.
By 10:00am, it became apparent that this wasn’t just a “dock removal”, as more and more equipment and soldiers appeared. They were kinda slow moving, and we figured it was some kind of National Guard exercise since the Guard office is just down the street.
We watched off and on while we got ready to go back into town. There were people beginning to line up in the corner of the campground – with and without chairs – to see what was going on. I asked a lady and she said, she was told they do this every year and would be practicing all day long.
We left.
Before we got to downtown, we stopped to check out the historic homes we saw from the Tower of History the other day. We couldn’t get into them, but still got a few pictures and some additional information.
We stumbled upon free parking today! Nice, because we didn’t have to clock-watch that way.
We wandered up and down the main street several times today. Just a nice, relaxing window shopping, stroll kind of day. And guess what? While we were appreciating the fountain and park area, we saw another freighter come in! Are you getting sick of ship pictures yet?
Lupper (between lunch and supper) was at the Tripadvisor #1, Sault Ste. Marie restaurant, – Karl’s, where we had matching Reubens.
It was good, but for us, I think the best part was a father/daughter sitting at the table next to us who were just there for dessert. The girl was about 6-7 years old and we had the perfect view of her face when the waitress brought out the dessert tray and started describing what was on it. Pure joy and awe! 😊
We wandered our food off a bit, then stopped back in at the ice cream shop. Ugh! I can’t believe I ate the whollle thing! And we thoroughly enjoyed every last bite! 😊
We watched yet another ship come in, the Cason J. Calloway, then went home.
