For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. Deuteronomy 10:17
We began with a fairly nice weather day. It didn’t end well.
It was only a two hour, 97-mile drive today, so we weren’t able to pack up and leave early. We had to wait until after lunch. Blaine knew rain was on its way, and he frequently checked the weather radar to keep updated. He was expecting rain about 2:00pm. For once, they got it right. Darn!
But we were able to drive fairly slowly across the five-mile Mighty Mackinac Bridge – the longest suspension bridge in America! What fun! Fortunately, it wasn’t windy today. I found the following on-line. It’s comprised of excerpts from an article dated last June. Also, just as an FYI – Blaine discovered that the bridge could sway as much as 35’ in high winds! That’s a lot!
MACKINAC COUNTY, Mi (WPBN/WGTU) —
When the wind reaches speeds of 65 miles an hour, the bridge closes to traffic.
A category one hurricane starts at 75 miles per hour.
The Mackinac Bridge Authority says there was a gust up to 72 miles per hour on Sunday. It caused both a camper and a boat on a trailer to tip over on the bridge.
Typically, the bridge would be closed at that wind speed, but that storm front only took a couple of minutes to go from calm winds to hurricane gusts.
At 35 miles per hour, the bridge authority starts escorting high profile vehicles like trucks or trailers.
At 55 miles per hour, it is closed to those high-profile vehicles.
It took us nine minutes to cross the five-miles today, and cost $14.

We arrived in the pouring rain . . . .
It’s been a long time since we’ve had to set up in the rain. It’s not fun. I think the last time it was anywhere near this bad, was the day we first moved in, back in April, 2017. At least it was considerably warmer today. 😊
This is a lovely site, with some type of water view on every side. Unfortunately, we were forced to back into the site, and our biggest window – the windshield – faces the play area (both playground and small beach) instead of the lake. Sigh . . . . But we have a nice wide yard, so we’re able to sit by the lake without feeling squished.
