Give thanks to the Lord for He is good! His love endures forever! Psalm 107:1
We woke to pouring rain. It was still raining at 7:30am. And as we looked outside, watching our neighbors, we were so thankful we don’t have a dog(s) to take out! It’s not really the going out and walking in the rain, it’s the wet dog smell. And the wet dog sand and dirt. And the damp dog, even after you dry them. No thank you very much.
Fortunately, the rain stopped early so we could pack up for our 3-hour, 130 mile trek today. It was a zig-zaggy trip today. Left, right, left, right, left, right, left. Sounds like an Army cadence, doesn’t it? But that’s literally how the road took us today.
We had a momentary glitch last evening when, just after Blaine completed mapping out our trip, the news said there was to be a bridge closure starting today – our bridge that we were supposed to cross to get from point A to point B. After some deliberation and research, he decided to keep everything as is, and take whatever detour they dish up.
We traveled on narrow streets, through several small towns for an hour, before hitting expressway – for a total of three miles – then it was back to the narrow and small. And with all these turns, I had to stay focused as well, since I have to help navigate. Me and Gabby (his pet name for his gps). He listens to me. He doesn’t always listen to her. I guess since I’m his wife, that’s a good thing. . . .
Little River Casino Resort and RV Park, Manistee, Michigan
Yep. You read right. We’re staying “at” a casino.
Actually, it’s property owned by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. It’s a huge piece of property with a resort/hotel complex, indoor and outdoor pools and hot tub, a spa and salon (where I’m planning on getting my hair cut), several eating areas, a campground (which is really nice by the way), and of course a large casino.
We walked over to the resort/casino/spa area today. We checked out the pools. We walked around the campground. But we both forgot to take our phones. Pictures will have to wait until we visit again.
No worries about me gambling our son’s inheritance away – they actually, believe it or not, allow smoking in there! A couple of minutes walking the floor found me ordering Blaine to “get me out of here!” Surely there’s a non-smoking area? Doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t throw my money away on games of chance anyway. Neither would Blaine. The kids’ futures are still safe. 😊
The salon didn’t have any appointments available until next week, so we’ll see. I’m not going to plan our days around a two-hour hair appointment – there’s just too much to see and do around here. We were just surprised how busy they are! Ten hours, seven days a week!
Everything here is top-notch, as you’ll see. When we post pictures. 😊
