Trouble In Paradise     11/26/18

Croft State Park, Spartanburg, South Carolina

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.  ~ James 1:2

Ten glorious days on the beach!  At least we hope they’re glorious.

The 226-mile, just over 4-hour drive today was fraught with peril!  So much traffic and trucks, and so many trying to zip in and out of traffic!  One guy in a pickup came within inches of side-swiping us!  And I don’t mean bumping our front with his tail-end.  I mean actually hitting our driver’s side with the side of his truck!  I thought Blaine was going to have a heart attack right there and then.  What the guy was thinking, we’ll never know of course.  We just hope he made it safely to wherever it was that he was in such a hurry to get to.

It was a difficult drive for Blaine.

We began drizzly and quiet, which lasted for a bit . . .

. . . . until. . .
And here we go!

A short reprieve

Palm Trees!!

But on a positive note, I was able to get 5-6 days of blogging completely done!  Yea!!

Entering Edisto Island

Don’t think I’e seen a sign like that before. : )

Tight fit for us!
Luckily no one was coming the other way.

The land of Spanish Moss

Tight squeeze to get in here!
That’s the people ahead of us – – just in case you got confused for a minute. : )

No swimming in the Atlantic today! : )

The sun is out!
It’s in the upper 60’s!
Beautiful!

We arrived safely, thank You Lord, but we’re currently only half our set-up size.

More stress for Blaine.  Our large slide refused to go out.  He worked for hours, instead of setting up and walking the beach, or even enjoying our new location (which by the way, is wonderful!)  He was just beside himself.  I felt wretched for him . . .

I helped when I could, but there really wasn’t much for me to do.  So I did what I do best.  I cooked.  I made him a good, healthy dinner.  Fried Rice. (There’s no recipe.  Just cook rice, brown Spam, scramble a couple of eggs, stir fry an assortment of veggies and lots of garlic in sesame oil, add soy sauce to taste)

And then he called it a day.  And it’s really hard for either of us to ‘consider it pure joy’. . . .

It’s a little narrow in here, but it’s fine.  We prayed for wisdom for tomorrow.

After dinner, I took some pictures of our beautiful site and went for a walk on the beach.  The one thing I really noticed, is that it smells like the intercoastal that was across the street from the Holden Beach house we rented for many years.  I can’t explain what that smell is, but it does.

Oh!  And unless you have a photographic memory you won’t remember, but we were actually here for a visit in December last year.  Among other things, we walked around the campground and chose our site for this year.
