Edisto Beach State Park, Edisto Island, South Carolina
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. Luke 1:26-27
Sunrise appeared to be the same as yesterday, so I declined. But appearances can be deceiving. Blaine sent me a picture, and in some ways, it looked better than yesterday because of all the clouds today. Very nice! I was kinda sorry I missed it, but my mind was too occupied to have enjoyed it anyway. I spent the morning getting ready to organize during our drive to the next location. Yes. I organized so I could organize. I’m efficient that way. 😊
The beach artists were at it again! We sure are gonna miss them!
Since we didn’t have to leave until noon today, we had time to walk the beach a little, but only a little. Besides, it was cold and windy.
The slide’s still not working properly, but since Blaine found a solution, we were able to take off at the proper time.
So during our 1 ½ hour, 50 mile drive, Blaine fought traffic and skinny roads, while I made lists.
- Menus (what do we already have to make since we’re going back to Ohio soon and don’t want to leave a freezer full of food . . . just in case)
- Christmas gifts (what do we already have and what do we need to get, and for whom)
- What do we need to shop for in Charleston (our list is quite extensive because for several stops now, there’ve been no real stores)
- Locate where the stores are that we need (most of them will still be about 30 minutes from our campground, so it’s imperative to get them in order so we aren’t driving back and forth. We don’t know where anything is here, so we need to map it out first)
- What to pack for Ohio
Whew! We made it!
James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina – Part 1
Our new campground is inside the very large James Island County Park and every year for the past 50 years, they have a drive-through light show at Christmastime. It costs $20 per car (up to 15 people), but since we’re camping here, we can go for free! Yes! We love free! Of course, they also charge more to camp here than many parks we stay at, but not a lot more. And we’re also paying for location. We’re only a hop, skip and a jump from Charleston.
We needed to get groceries today, but had been admonished that anytime we left the Park, we should plan on returning prior to 4:30pm. After that, the cars start lining up to get in for the light show. They open the gate to the public at 5:30pm.
We got back at 4:10pm. Whoa! We were concerned we might not make it – we had ice cream with us. The lights were already turned on, and even though it was still light, we were able to get a preview of what to expect.
Oh. You’re probably wondering about the “Part 1”. This place is so busy that even though Blaine made reservations almost a year ago, we still have to move to a different site in three days.
