Here We Go Again     12/15/18

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina – Part 2

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Second verse, same as the first . . . .

It rained all night the day we left, but the weather was certainly and by no means dry.  Another long night of heavy rain had us feeling wiped out.

No rest until tonight though.  We moved today.

Guess it will just have to be early to bed . . .

But even with little rest, we’re still much better off than several people in this campground.  Just a couple of sites down the road from us, there are people under water.  And by underwater, I mean, there’s one that can’t leave their camper without boots or bare feet, and another that has a little island with all their bikes on it.  There are a few others in similar predicaments.

We suspect there are homes that, if they have basements, are enduring flooding.  Many homes around here don’t though, so they may be okay.  We weren’t far down the road when we came across water actually bubbling up in the middle of the lane we were driving in!  The water wasn’t deep, which was why we could see the almost fountain, but that means the sewers must be full.  Yuk!

Other than being on narrow roads, the drive was pretty uneventful.  It took us an hour and a half to go 38 miles, and that included a fuel stop.

Lots of traffic in the beginning!

It’s still Fall, y’all!!

We had a bit of an issue putting our slide out again, but Blaine was able to get it going once again.  He’s so wonderful!  : )

This is how Blaine puts the slide in and out! I didn’t know he was crawling around in the basement!

This is the same place we left our coach for Christmas last year.  There’s a river that runs alongside the campground, but we’re elevated way above it and the Ranger assured us there was no danger of flooding here.

But we knew the river would be high, so after dinner, we went for a walk.  It was much higher than we saw it last year!

Look how far the handrail is under the water!

That stream was not there last year!

They lost some steps under the water . . .

This picture is from last year, November 29th. . . . . .

And then look at it this year!

That’s it for today.  Blaine was planning on watching the Browns game tonight, but I kicked him out early.  And no screaming at the TV!  I’m hoping to actually sleep tonight . . . . .
