Trip To The Beach     01/02/19

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You.  ~ Psalm 63:3

It took us half the day to get moving.  Definitely a setback for me.  I really expected to be more energetic today.  ☹  Blaine is coughing, but usually only between 2-4am.  So he’s tired.

We started off a bit easy with a trip to the local WalMart for some non-grocery supplies.  The longer I walked around the store, the better I felt and when there was no salmon for our planned dinner, a spontaneous decision was made to enjoy the beautiful weather afternoon on Tybee Island. It was another record high today, 79 degrees, which is a huge difference from last year when it was in the 30s.

Tybee’s about a 30-minute drive for us.

Beside a portion of the boardwalk we were on

The gulls were taking advantage of the low tide pools.

These are different!
And quite vocal, but more like a cheep-sound.

The little boy who still resides in Blaine decided this flock had rested plenty long enough . . . .  : )

Those black ones are really different!

Live sand dollars are red?
Who knew!
We made sure this one, and a couple of others near the edge of the surf, made it back into the sea.

We sat here and relaxed for a bit before leaving.

After walking the beach for about two hours, we headed off to a restaurant called The Crab Shack.  We’d been there several times in past years during vacations to the area.

Besides good food, it’s an interesting place.  Trash cans are positioned under your table with a hole in the middle of the table and you throw your trash away as you consume it.

Our table view

Low country boil

Deviled crab and boiled shrimp

There are also cats roaming all around patrolling the place, including the restaurant.  They’re all well cared for, spayed/neutered and vaccinated (which must take quite a chunk out of their profits).  They weren’t too sure about the seeing-eye-dog at the table next to us though.

Argh! Giant cat!
Really, it’s just trick photography. : )

They have alligators, and birds too.  Hopefully, they successfully keep all their critters separated!

This is Gilbert.
We know this because he told us. : )

This one’s CeCe and he’s 35 years old

Didn’t catch the info on these two.

Super noisy!
And I felt sorry for these active birds cooped up in these cages. I don’t care how well they’re cared for. . . .

Our drive home took a bit longer as traffic was backed up due to construction (which had just ended) and an accident on a different road, but contributing to the volume.  Ah well, at least we got to watch some of the sunset.
