Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep His commands.  ~ Deuteronomy 7:9

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, JESSICA!  We’ve known Jessica for a lot of years – since she was a teenager, when our son whisked her away on his white horse.  She’s become a wife and is in the midst of raising three of our four (almost five) grandsons since that time.  Wanna know a secret about Jessica?  She’s a wonderful artist!  Her special gift is for faces, which I’ve heard are the most difficult.

Well I was right (which doesn’t happen often, so mark it down).  We’re paying for yesterday’s exertion.  At least I am anyway.  I’ve contracted a mild case of medial tibial stress syndrome, aka shin splints.  In case you’re wondering, shin splints are pain in the front of the lower leg caused from inflammation of the muscles, tendons and bone tissue around your shin.  They’re a common problem for runners, gymnasts, dancers and military recruits.  Hmmmm . . . . wonder what category I fall into?  They should add “old ladies who think they’re half their age and try to climb too many mountains in one day”.  😊

It’s good we’re moving today, so I can rest my medial tibia.

We only moved 39 miles today, but it took us an hour and a half because we were taking our time and hanging out at a rest area waiting for time to pass. Early check-out time, short drive, and late check-in time will do that. Plus we needed two hours to perform our monthly generator run.

New state and closer to home!
Today was a beautiful drive!
That’s us!
Traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Fancy Gap Cabins and Campground, Fancy Gap, Virginia

Will you take a gander at this spot Blaine secured for us?!?  We’re right on the Blue Ridge Parkway and we have incredible mountain views!  Plus, there are flowering fruit trees (apple?) right outside our window!

There’s our home for the next four nights!
WOW! What a view out our front window!
It’s such a great view, I couldn’t wait until morning to take a picture of it!
And the blossoms are gorgeous!
Wonder how the lemon tree we gave our youngest is faring?
Last we heard, it had blossoms and was filling the house with fragrance.

And then the new neighbors showed up.  Drat!  Drat!  And Double Drat!

Oh man!!

But at least our view’s not completely blocked.  Remind me to be grateful, will you Father?  Thank You!

Blaine went for a short walk around the campground, found tadpoles – in the tail and rear legs phase (which he neglected to take a picture of), and lots of fairly tall hills.  😊

This and the next are from Blaine’s walk.

We also found out that the neighbors left Florida and are on a six-week trip to Maine and back.  Six weeks just doesn’t seem like enough time to travel the entire east coast of America twice.  Just reminds us how blessed we truly are.
