Countryside Campground, Mogadore, Ohio

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. ~  Psalm 42:1-2

Today did not begin as planned.  You’ve already heard about Blaine’s twisted right knee, well this morning shortly after wakening, he experienced excruciating stabbing pains in his left knee.  He’s dealt with this momentary pain in the past and with no residual effects, but today’s was infinitely worse.  And now, both knees are hurting him.  And he had to drive 6 ½ hours.  Our biggest concern was that he’d experience this gut-wrenching pain while we were on the road, so we prayed, and God answered that prayer!  Thank You, Jesus!

But he’s still unable to walk far.

We started out in fog, and driving was easy as far as traffic goes, but all three states (Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York) have horribly paved expressways!  At times, we bounced around like balls in an arcade game, making it difficult for me to work on the blog as planned.  And at one point, we hit a large rectangle cone because they had it set too far into our lane and Blaine had no place else to go.  We sustained a couple of scratches, but that’s all.  Oh!  And I almost forgot about the three road-workers blocking the expressway with their bodies in New York!  Fortunately, they moved before we got to them because Blaine wasn’t sure he could stop in time!

These are all but two of the cards Blaine received while we were at home – birthday and Father’s Day!
Here’s the other two.
Driving into the fog.
Lots of road work today.

Lunchtime coincided with our stop at the Chautauqua, NY rest area.  We ate lunch here two years ago, almost to the exact date on our way to . . . . . do you remember?

Nova Scotia!  Our first trip in our new rambling lifestyle.

This rest stop using solar power now! Good for them!
Look familiar?
They have gorgeous flowers!

Along the way, we learned that our newest grandson, Cooper has had his due date moved up to July 31st.  My birthday!

My view from the sofa
Here’s what I was looking at much of today! Lovely scenery! Although I didn’t fully appreciate it since I was busy trying to keep my act together.
What in the world is that?
He kept his brace on all during the drive.
Small town, New York
Nowadays, there are round-abouts everywhere you go . . .
Uh oh . . . .

And in case you haven’t guessed by today’s title, we’re in New York – – for the next couple of weeks.  (Still don’t get it?  Think Frank Sinatra . . . )

Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca, New York

We traveled 359 miles in 6 ¾ hours, making us only ½ hour past our original ETA – and that’s with three rest breaks and lunch!  Pretty good I’d say!

That’s where we’re stopping!

Once we arrived, set-up was a breeze.  We’re a little ‘high in the sky’ in order to be level, and there’s no satellite (which means only recorded shows for the next five days) and precious little internet power (which means I may not be able to get posts published because there’s not enough juice to get the pictures in place), but it’s quiet here.

A large camping cabin next door.
There are many more on the other side of the bath house
and most of them are about half this size.
Not sure I’d want to stay in a place with this sign posted on the front door! And I like bats!

Currently, there’s not another rig even remotely close to our size in the entire park.  I know this because after a very short walk, Blaine went back home to ice and elevate his knees, but I kept going.  Just around the camping areas.

This is a primitive camping area that’s close by.
There he goes. . . Poor baby . . . I feel bad for him! : (
These two pictures are of the river that runs under the road to the entrance of the campground.

I also came across a recently flattened garter snake in the road (could’ve been by us), but I didn’t take a picture, although I confess, I was tempted.  😊

I checked out the bath house, which is right next door to us.  Since we don’t have sewer hook-up these next five days, I prefer to use the campground showers most nights.  That way I don’t have to conserve my hot water and have plenty to wash and condition my hair.

However, this is not one of those places.  Let’s just say, “Yuck!” and be done with it. . . .

The lovely bath house is behind me. I didn’t take a picture of it.
Icing his knees with frozen peas and corn – on and off every 20 minutes.
