The Sound Of Contentment 06/20/19

Robert H. Treman State Park, Ithaca, New York

When I am afraid, I will trust in you.  In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.  What can mortal man do to me? ~ Psalm 56:3-4

What a wonderful way for God to give us a very small demonstration of his power and majesty than through water!

It rained all last night and more than half of today.  We stayed in, allowing Blaine a day to convalesce until Blaine got this brilliant idea to have dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  We both love a good steak, and TR’s rolls are  . . . . well . . . do you remember the cartoon dog from eons ago (I can’t remember his name, but he was kinda pudgy and white) that whenever he had something good, he’d wrap his “arms” around himself and do this “mmmm…..mmmmmm…mmmmm!” and jump up into the air and float down extremely content?  Texas Roadhouse rolls make you want to do that.  😊

But I digress.

We have to drive over this bridge in the campground to get out.  We could hear the water well before we arrived at the bridge – in fact, we could hear it from our coach.  The river was gushing!

So we parked in the lot and did the short walk to the swimming area from yesterday.  My, OH, MYYY!!!!  What a difference a day made! And just to warn you, there will be (several? Quite a few?) before and after pictures, and way more than normal videos!

Walking up to the waterfall

Look at the rocks the raging water has thrown up onto the platform!

Looking downstream

This is from an information board at Ithaca Falls.
It was taken at the time of their major flood in 1936.
We’d not visited this waterfall yet, but it was on the way to dinner.
Same general vantage point as the black and white,
but as you can see, the view is now obstructed by trees.
I think we’re standing on that bridge in the picture . . .
Walking the trail to Ithaca Falls.
Our first view! It was very wet and very windy.
All the wind was coming from the power of the water!

All that wind from water!

Blaine decided to leave the parking lot via the Jeep route. : )

Now it’s time for dinner! Since we weren’t expecting all that extracurricular activity, we’re starved!

That’s half of them. The infamous Texas Roadhouse rolls.
We couldn’t wait to shove that deliciousness into our mouths!
We each ate three and took two home for breakfast,
since our server said they make delicious toast. Yum!
Rib eye and sweet potato for me.
Strip and baked potato for Blaine

After dinner, we drove around to some of the places we visited yesterday.  We found them spectacular too!  So now you get to look at more before and after pictures.  😊  Hopefully, you’ll be as WOWed as we were!

It was a bit difficult to re-create the pictures we took yesterday, but I think we did pretty good!

And now, just some random pictures we took because it was so amazingly awesome out here this evening!

Along the way to Buttermilk Falls, we ran into some pretty heavy fog.

There’s a waterfall (Lucifer Falls) in our State Park that you can either hike to or drive to. We thought we’d drive tonight because it’s closer to the far end. There’s also an reconstructed old mill you can look around in.

We didn’t spend much time here because we’ve seen mills before,
but there were a couple of new things.
This was behind the mill and used to power it at one time.
The path to Lucifer Falls
Different bridge, but looks the same as the first one. : )
I walked over to take a picture of the closed gate while Blaine waited on the bridge.
Well, I guess we won’t see the falls tonight . . . . Hopefully tomorrow!

The Sounds of Contentment? Sighs over dinner rolls on your tongue and witnessing the power of rushing water. All while using the five senses God created for us – taste, touch, sight, sound, and smell!
