Good morning, Levis! We think the proper pronunciation is “LEH-viss”, although we’re not certain.
Falls of the Chaudiere Park.
That’s where we went today and it was a really nice
place. Much more than we’d expected. We’d heard there was a waterfall and a
suspension bridge, but that’s about it. I left home in my sandals and threw my tennis
shoes in the back “just in case”. It’s a
good thing I did. I changed my shoes
almost immediately – once I got a look over the railing that was in the parking
lot.
This place is the result of a natural waterfall and a hydroelectric
plant, but we couldn’t read a single sign, so I can’t tell you anything about
it, except that we figured out one sign that said the place is unique, and that
it’s in the town of Levis. That’s it.

I don’t know how many there were, but it was a lot!We got the gist of this sign.
If the alarm goes off, run for your life!That’s the viewing area in the parking lot.The rock formations here were beautiful, and difficult to walk on, and wonderfully different!We’ll get up there eventually. : )We don’t know rocks, but you can see how some layers are brittle and broken into pieces, and then you have these other layers that are fairly thick and sturdy.They were difficult to walk on because they all stick up, making narrow ridges for stepping on.
Surprisingly though, the brittle broken pieces didn’t slide around when you stepped on them.Look at the fish he caught! It didn’t seem that people kept the fish. Must be catch and release here. He sure was proud though! : )See the waterfall on the far right? If you look super close, you’ll see a person walking gingerly over there.
There’s a “pond” at the base of the waterfall.

It got pretty wobbly when people walked across.
The walk way to the top of the falls.There was no one minding the store. Guess there’s no danger. I supposed that’s a good thing. : )Picture this photograph with that bush in full bloom. Bet it was stunning!!We figured this one out. Sort of.
This is the Falls in 1898.And this is “today”.Remember the “pond” I mentioned earlier? There were two girls swimming here! It looked pretty deep, but wouldn’t that be fun?!?!?This is the hydroelectric power station. The skylights enable you to look down and see the turbines tubes.The transformers. Only an electrician would find this fascinating. : ) I was impressed I could read what they were. : )The work force from 1901.
I had no idea it was that old!The stairs we had to go down to get here. And you know, what goes down, must go up if it’s going to return to it’s transportation.The turbines that turn to produce electricity.
We spent a couple of hours here, and then a stop at WalMart, before heading home to make dinner and plan tomorrow.
