Love Makes The World Go ‘Round 09/09/19

Chenango Valley State Park, Chenango Forks, New York

There are three things that amaze me—no, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman.  ~ Proverbs 30:18-19

Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.  ~ Ephesians 5:33

(Love) burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.  Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away.  ~ Song of Songs 8:6b

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. ~ I Peter 4:8

There are so many good verses for today, I couldn’t choose just one!

Today’s our 41st anniversary!

The card I picked up for Blaine months ago. : )
In truth, the captions should be reversed.

Nothing quite as special as last year’s when we celebrated by taking a small airplane tour over Lake Michigan and drove a dune buggy all over the Silver Sands State Park, but it was still a nice day.  When you live this lifestyle, every day’s a celebration!  And we’ve certainly been celebrating lately, between whale-watching tours and walking all over Boston and eating boatloads of restaurant food (Which we don’t recommend as a regular diet.  Kinda hurts the waistline and our bodies can feel all the fat and salt taking residence.)

Deer in our front yard this morning!

So what did we do today?  We rode our bikes all around the campground, and I baked pork chops for dinner.  Not even the best meal I’ve ever prepared, they were a little dry because they baked a little too long.  ☹

And we heard Chicago’s “You’re the Inspiration” on the Jeep’s radio today!  Great song for an anniversary celebration!

You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love to last forever
And I want you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know
Everywhere I go
Always on my mind
In my heart
In my soul
Baby

You’re the meaning in my life
You’re the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You’re the inspiration
Want to have you near me
I want to have you hear me saying
“No one needs you more than I need you”

And I know (And I know)
Yes I know that it’s plain to see
So in love when we’re together
Now I know (Now I know)
That I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know (Yes, you need to know )
Everywhere I go
You’re always on my mind
You’re in my heart
In my soul

You’re the meaning in my life
You’re the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You’re the inspiration
Want to have you near me
I want to have you hear me saying
“No one needs you more than I need you”

The secret to our success?  We both put God first and each other second.  That’s it.  Sounds simple, and it should be, but it’s not always.  And the principle applies to every relationship – marriage or not.  And of course, there’s love.  A conscious decision to do what’s best for the other person.  Marriage 101.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.  Rather, in humility, consider others better than yourselves.  ~ Philippians 2:3

Not only is this day noteworthy because we’ve been married for 41 years (and because we’ve actually known each other for 55!), but it also marks another milestone.

At 587,033 words, I’m rivaling “War and Peace” which has 587,287.  And that’s just what I’ve written in my Word document to transfer to the blog.  It doesn’t include all the picture captions.  I’m certain I’ve exceeded Mr. Tolstoy.  He still has me beat for the number of pages though – 1,225 to my piddly 920 – but I’ll bet my pages are bigger. 😊

Of course, I don’t even make the top five.  Yet.  The number one longest novel ever written has 3,277,227 words (and 7,312 pages).  I think you should run out and pick up a copy.  It’s The Blah Story by Nigel Tomm. Send me a book report when you’ve finished.  If I’m still alive by then.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my wonderful wife! A wonderful wife, mother, and a great cook.😊 I’ve been truly blessed over the years. I love you!❤️
