Bring Out The Boots 09/21/19

Caledonia State Park, Fayetteville, Pennsylvania

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.  ~ Proverbs 15:1

Have you ever noticed how quickly a person can get out of shape?

I sure did today!  We went from ‘street-walking’ for the past month , to climbing mountains, overnight.  Plus, I strapped 2 ½ pound weights to my feet when I switched from sandals or light-weight tennis shoes, to hiking boots.  And then we walked and/or climbed over 20,000 steps in about 4-5 hours – 10,000 before lunch!

We took on some trails here at the State Park, which also included a part of the Appalachian Trail.  I’m beginning to think that by the time we retire, we may have covered most of the AT, since we seem to run into it frequently.  😊

I have no idea why I was reading my devotional like that.
Guess Blaine thought it was unusual as well. : )
Fall!
It might be called an historic trail, but there was no history to be found.
Trying to show that we’re in the mountains. . . .
This large open area is one of the clearings they made to make charcoal for the iron works.
They call it a hearth.
Part of the trail took us right beside the road!
We returned home for lunch, and stopped by the Visitor Center on our way back out to ask about another trail we wanted to take. She wasn’t able to help us, so we just took off anyway and hoped for the best. : )
We parted ways with the AT at this point. It was time to head back home.
Oh Good! We found the road we were looking for!
It’s different than the busy one we walked beside this morning.
This one has very little traffic.
The County Line
Trail Hazzard . . . I’d rather see a bear.
We made it back home!

Let me tell you, that cool shower sure felt good!
