He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends. ~ Proverbs 17:9
We learned that the county we’re in is dry. No alcohol sales whatsoever, and no alcohol in the campground, except at your site. That got me to wondering how many counties these days are still dry. To my surprise, there’s still about 200 of them, and many, many more that are considered “moist”; meaning they have laws and restrictions. I happened upon a map. So, just for fun, here it is:
Today was THE Ohio State University vs the University of Michigan rivalry football game.
I did a bit of research and discovered that if you Google “oldest college football rivalry”, most of the posts that appear don’t list OSUvsMichigan. However. That being said, they do list them as the fiercest rivals. In fact, Blaine saw an article in the Akron Beacon Journal (our hometown) that polled OSU fans and asked, “Would you rather win the national championship and lose to Michigan, or beat Michigan and lose the national championship?” Believe it or not, it was pretty evenly divided between the two choices. Blaine chose to win the championship. Seems like a smarter choice to me. 😊
Here’s a few more stats I pulled from Wikipedia:
Current win streak: Ohio State, 7 (2012–Present)
Longest win streak: Michigan, 9 (1901–1909)
First meeting: October 16, 1897; Michigan 34, Ohio State 0
Meetings total: 115
Largest victory: Michigan 86, Ohio State 0 (1902)
You’d think with those stats that Michigan would be better, but what Wikipedia doesn’t tell you is that OSU has beaten Michigan 17 times in the last 19 years.
Being in need of some fresh air, but not wanting to exert much energy to get it, I took my laptop, jetpack, and phone over to the pool pavilion across the street from us. I could hear Blaine yelling at the TV from there! I texted him to tone it down in case the neighbors were trying to take a nap. They’re from Mississippi. What do they care about the OSU/Michigan game? 😊
While I sat there, Pam, one of the campground owners, pulled up in her golf cart and chatted for a few minutes. She and her husband are also believers and she invited us to join them at their church tomorrow.
As anyone from Ohio already knows, OSU trounced Michigan – – again. 56-27.
Say it loud, clear, and between refrains of Carmen Ohio: Ohio State is better than Michigan, and maybe better than everybody else. The Buckeyes have won eight straight over Michigan, and 18 of the last 20. Ohio State-Michigan doesn’t feel like the best rivalry in sports anymore. It feels like Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown, then kicking him in the head. ~ si.com
After the OSU game, Blaine turned to Alabama vs Auburn. My brother wasn’t too happy Blaine picked Auburn. 😊 But it was a tight game, with Auburn pulling out the win 48-45.
Thanksgiving dinner again tonight. Yes!!
