Seven Falls And Then Some 03/17/20

Catalina State Park, Tucson, Arizona

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.  ~ Galatians 5:22-23

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!  No parades.  No green rivers.  No green beer.  No group get togethers.  But we can still wear green if we want to! As evident in the following pictures sent to us by our youngest son, Kyle. This is Kade, Harper and Cooper; Kyle and Shena and their dog, Finn.

Bad news today, as we received our annual bill for the RV’s insurance and it almost tripled from last year!  We’re sure it’s because of the accident when that semi hit us in November (can you believe it’s been that long ago?).  Even though it wasn’t our fault, and no one was cited, the police report pushed blame towards us.  But the main thing?  No payments were made by the insurance company, so why the increase?  Especially so much?  This is a headache Blaine will address tomorrow, but will undoubtedly be foremost on his mind unless/until he can get it resolved.  Suffice it to say, that much money is definitely NOT in our budget!

We decided to relieve some stress by tackling the almost 5-mile, difficult Bear Canyon/7 Falls Trail in Sabino Canyon which is about a ½ hour drive for us.  In our bright red Jeep Renegade rental.  Sure can’t loose this thing in a parking lot, no matter how full it is.  😊

The Park offers a shuttle service to get around, but we don’t really like the idea of being confined in a closed up short bus on a good day, let alone in times like these.

Walking through the Park to the trail head.
The seven falls trail goes through Bear Canyon
You have to walk on the shuttle road to get to the trail head. Even though it was only 9am, there were a lot of people walking around and many of them seemed to be heading out of the Park already.
Well, that picture doesn’t make it look very pleasant to encounter a cat on the trail, does it?
Uh oh. What do we do now?
Same as most everyone else . . .
bare your feet and walk through it. : )
The shuttle drove by while we were putting our shoes and socks back on.
You can continue to walk the road to the trail head, but we chose to walk the path less taken.
Over there’s the road. : )
It’s an awfully narrow trail for both people and horses!
We’re about to merge with the road people and continue on another section of trail.

The Park was absolutely packed with people!  Once again, it seemed to be mostly college and high school kids.  What else are they gonna do?  They don’t have school and they can’t go to the usual hang-outs.

There were a lot more people on this trail than we’re used to, but it didn’t slow us down too much, and it probably made the inevitable water crossings easier because we could watch those going before us to see the best route.  😊

Form a line – – and try to practice “social distancing”. : )
We lost count, but we think we had to cross the river 6-7 times before we reached the 7 Falls destination.
Waiting for our turn.
Did you notice all the people lined up on the trail across the water?
We left the trail for a few minutes to check out the river.
Yes. This is the trail.
Some crossings were a bit tricky. : )
Blaine had to take something out of his shoe, he’s not removing them to cross.
Pretty!
Guess we found where everyone ended up! We counted at least 7 waterfalls here! And dozens and dozens of people – mostly high school/college kids claiming space on the rocks.
We made our way down there, thinking we’d find a spot to eat lunch, but there just too many people.
So we took a few pictures and climbed back up to the trail.
Some were brave enough to take a dip in the chilly water of the upper pool.
We found a great place to eat!
We’re tucked up against the rocks alongside the trail, and claimed a spectacular view!!
Lunch view!
This too!
Back on the trail and headed back.
This is one of those pictures we took to remind us of what this looks like. When the sun shines just right on the cacti, they have a halo around them! It’s from the sun shining on the needles!
We have no idea, but it made us laugh when we discovered it! : )
We’re off trail, exploring.
Our exploration brought us here to take a break and eat some fruit.
Blaine wanted shade . . .
. . . . I wanted to be close to the water. : )
We had some wonderful views!
Back on task . . .
looking for the trail again. : )
Isn’t this funny looking?!?
Looks like the skin just sluffed off it! : )
Time to bare our hot tired feet and cross again.
Ahhhhhhh . . . . .
Chilly as it was, it felt wonderful!
These are our very temporary neighbors.
All the way from Hawaii!!!
We never saw them, but we noticed the license plate. : )

Once again, a wonderful, blessed day!  So grateful we’re able to participate in days like this!
