An Old Friend 03/25/20

Lost Dutchman State Park, Apache Junction, Arizona

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.  ~ Proverbs 22:1

We’ve been seeing and hearing helicopters the past couple of days.
Blaine finally caught one.
It appears they’re practicing rescues, which I suppose makes sense
if you read the “Lost Dutchman Treasure” article I included the other day.

This morning, Blaine coaxed me out to experience his trail from yesterday for myself – especially the flowers.  Even though I can actually see them right from our window(s), it was amazing to view them up close and personal!

Are you coming?!?!?
That appears to be the launch pad.
How’d you like a house here, with a mountain view??
But, we noticed none of them have large picture windows.
We think it gets too hot here most of the year for that. How sad for them!
Beyond description!

But, he also told me the trail was easy.  I’m thinking maybe we should set up definitions for “easy” because in my estimation, once we got past the flowers, it wasn’t so easy.  Not that it mattered, but it’s a whole different mindset to prepare for an “easy” trail, than a more difficult one.  Plus, “easy” is easier on my rib injury.

Good thing I can be flexible.  😊

Now we’re approaching the ‘easy’ part. lol!
Did you notice the people on the trail?
A stream!
Blaine wanted to capture the sun rise coming over the mountain,
but of course, it didn’t come out as well as seeing it in person. : (
Yeah. Easy . . .
I don’t know what this is, but it’s interesting, don’t you think.
Plus, we were really surprised to see an ivy plant growing in the desert!
I sure hope his life insurance is paid up!
Now that you’ve had your anxiety attack, this is what he was really doing. : )
This picture was a disappointment.
It looked pink to the naked eye.
You can see a touch of pink, but not as much as we saw. : (
Pretty!

The best part of the day though, was dinnertime and beyond as we had a visitor!

We’re in the area where my friend, Michelle Hixson lives!  I first met Michelle when she was a child.  Her dad was our Pastor at Springfield Baptist Church, and her mom (Terri) was one of my best friends.  Michelle moved out to Arizona when she was 14 years old, and it was years before I talked with her again.  Until the day she called me to ask me to be her (long-distance) prayer partner.  It was a requirement for one of her college classes, as I recall.  I was sooo surprised but infinitely pleased to hear from her!

We’ve kept in touch since then, as well as some with her younger sister, Jennifer whom we’ll see later this week.  Michelle is excellent at making time for her family and friends – and she has many friends all over the world that she’s collected on her missions travels!

That’s Michelle!
She’s grown up to be an awesome woman of God!

It was such a pleasurable evening!  We enjoyed every minute!  Jen has invited us to her home for dinner on Friday, and as of right now, they’re all coming to our place for burgers on Tuesday.  Of course, these days, plans are always tentative.

I would like to end today with something humorous.

Blaine receives emails about RV life and included in one of those was the following:

In Sterling, Colorado the Logan County Sheriff’s Office issued a plea for help from its traditional nemeses, local criminals:  “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and its contagious nature, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office is asking all criminal activities/nefarious conduct to cease until further notice.  We appreciate your anticipated cooperation in halting crime and thank criminals in advance.  We will update you when you can return to your normal criminal behavior.”

I heard you laughing out loud . . . . .   😊
