Round About The Campground 05/21/20

Kaibab Camper Village, Fredonia, Arizona (Grand Canyon North Rim)

…for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again . . . ~ Proverbs 24:16a

I wanted to share my devotional for today.
A lesson for us all.

Yet another morning begins with our little friend visiting us!

Today, we decided to check out some things that were close to home.  When we checked in, the campground provided a list of things to see and do, and there were yet still some things to check off.

So we drove to the fire tower first.  It’s really tall.  And really open.  And I made it about half way before calling it quits.  Not because of the exertion, but just the really high openness of the thing.  Blaine went a little further, but even he decided to stop.  Bunch of sissies!  Who’da thunk, these two people who have no problem walking along the sides of mountains or standing over steep precipices would cow to a sturdily built metal tower?

Way up there????
Come on, Terri. It’s not so bad . . .
Just about as far as we went.
View from as high as we got.

From there, we drove back to just outside the campground to check out the ‘historic ranger station’.  It was closed, but there were plenty of windows to look in, and some information boards.

Peering in through the windows. So nice they keep them clean, especially if they’re gonna keep the place locked up.
These two signs were outside the barn.
This is the barn

Just across the dirt road from the ranger station, was Jacob Lake.  Not much of a lake if you ask us, more like an almost dried up pond, actually, but it was on the list and we can now say that we saw it.

Not much to it, is there?

Before we took the Jeep home, we stopped and filled up.

When was the last time someone asked if you wanted your windshield cleaned?
He did the back too! I was very discreet in my picture taking. : )

Back home, we talked to our neighbor (who collects rocks and makes jewelry out of them), then went for a walk on the trail from the campground to Jacob Inn.

Along the way, we met some new friends in a tree.  Sooo cute!!

He kept popping his head out to watch us – – just like we were watching him. : )
This is the tree he was in, and as we took this picture, another one peeked out a different hole!
We thought it was the same one, until we saw two at once!
Our neighbor would LOVE these rocks here behind the Jacob Inn! Beautiful!
This one doesn’t look like much, until you look close . . .
. . . Beautiful!!
There are several cabins here too.
Not sure why this is parked here, but it looks great, doesn’t it?
All the wood on the Visitor Center was this honey color.
It made Blaine’s skin the same color in the picture. : )

And we came to another surprise at the end of our walk!  Jacob Inn was open for business!  Previously, it’d just been the gas station, but now, the restaurant, bakery and gift shop were all open!

These electric blue flowers were outside the entrance. Stunning!

We spent money.

My husband was feeling quite generous.

And since it was near dinner time, we’re saving the cookie purchase until tomorrow.  Hey!  The sign says, “World’s Best”, so we have to test them, don’t you think?
