Last Day 06/03/20

Watchman Campground, Zion National Park

Life a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against his neighbor.  ~ Proverbs 25:18

NOTE: It’s currently June 12th. I have strong service and lots of posts to do. Wonder how far I’ll get?

This being our last full day in Zion, I took an early morning walk around the campground/Visitor Center area.  It was quiet.  It was lovely.  It was a great way to pray this morning.

Gorgeous this morning! Just right for a time of silent worship!
That’s the Visitor Center.
This is a bronze of a Whiptail lizard. Now we know where the local restaurant got it’s name. : )
Just some interesting info from the Vistor Center’s outdoor boards.
The forecast posted by the National Park Service.
Tomorrow, is actually today. YIKES!
Blaine had his own views from this seat on the couch as the sun crept over the mountain.
Beautiful!

Once I returned, I spent the morning working our the Angel’s Landing post.  Blaine was busy with his own brand of paperwork.  He received an email from Rocky Mountain National Park that they are now doing scheduled entry into the Park (to keep crowds down due to COVID-19), so he spent the morning figuring out what we had to do to gain access during our time there (July 9-23), and then printing our passes for us.  It took him almost as long to do that, as it did for me to get my post finished, but now we’ll be able to enter the Park.  😊

Just after noon, we decided to get out and ride around the Park a little, but it was so stinking hot, we weren’t able to be out long.  ☹

We found the place where the fire was!
It looked a lot worse in the media picture we saw.
Nice camping area across the river.

Today was a two-meal day, and around 3pm, we left home and returned to Oscar’s restaurant to try out their Mexican offers.  Oh.  My!  It was even better than the burgers!

Blaine had flautas, I had the burrito.
Sooooo good!!!!
In fact, Blaine enjoyed his flautas so much, he’s insisting I find a recipe. : )

Since we never completed our shopping venture, we walked off our dinner and went shirt-shopping.  Here’s what we came away with:

I really like the front of this one of Blaine’s.
Nothing on the back.
This one’s mine. It wasn’t wrinkled when we bought it, but since then, I’ve worn and washed it. : )

After dinner, we climbed into the Jeep and drove down past the Patriarchs towards The Narrows.  We were so happy to find the road re-opened now.  Not only were we able to soak up the views one last time, we also completed the only trail in the Park that we hadn’t done – – at least that was open to us.  It’s called The Grotto, and easier than we’re used to, but it was shaded so it was cooler, and we were able to get in about a mile’s worth of steps. Beautiful views – – as with everywhere in this place!

You had to walk under that. : )
This building’s not currently being used. Looks old though.
What a view they had!
We’re feeling HOT! : )

Driving further down the road, we stopped at Big Bend to look around, and found a trail alongside the road that took us into the center of the mountains.  I’m not kidding.  The. Center.  We were completely surrounded!  Blaine even took a short video showing it, but he did it really quickly and it kinda makes you dizzy to watch it.  😊  I can’t show it to you though, because my laptop wouldn’t accept it.  Must’ve made it too dizzy, too.

That white one’s the Great White Throne.
On it’s left is The Organ, on the right is Angel’s Landing.
A bit more full view of the Throne.
It’s the rectangle one on the right.
Great White Throne, and The Organ.
These are soooo much more magnificent and enormous in person!
Angel’s Landing – -the brown one in front.
Doesn’t look the same from here. : )
Again with the Organ. : )
It was sooo lovely and peaceful down here!

Tomorrow we move on. I’m certain at least one tear will be shed . . . .
