Ruby’s Inn RV Park, Bryce, Utah

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.  ~ Proverbs 25:24

Last night Blaine discovered a new free app and added it to his phone.  You can use it to identify any plant, tree, flower, etc.  This morning, he tried it out.  He was editing our June 1st post and when he got to a flower, he used his phone and took a picture of it.  Immediately, it brought up the Canadian Milkweed, along with any and everything you could possibly want to know about it! And if you’re out walking and want to know what you’re looking at, all you have to do is turn on the app and aim your phone!  How cool is that?!?!?!?

Since today was our shortest drive so far (just 24 miles up the road), and we had to check out by 11am, and check in at Kodachrome wasn’t until 3pm, we obviously had some time to kill, and it’s not like we can just joyride around with a 40’ motorhome towing a Jeep.  Blaine took us across the street to an RV parking lot.  We think it’s actually for travelers who want to spend the day at Bryce on their way somewhere else, because it’s also a shuttle stop.

The plan was to do our monthly two-hour generator run in the parking lot to kill some time.  But guess what we also found?  An RV wash!  Like a do-it-yourself car wash, but bigger.  Much bigger. And our coach was really dirty. We managed to get the entire monstrous thing washed in about 45-minutes, for a mere pittance of only . . . drumroll, please . . . $15!  Can you believe it?!?!?  Blaine was ecstatic. And damp. So was I. 😊

I didn’t just take pictures.
I rinsed, turned the dials and inserted the cash. : )

Back to our parking space where we completed the generator run while blogging and researching, and then we left Bryce Canyon City behind, checking off #2 of the Mighty Five National Parks in Utah.

If Zion National Park is majestic, and Bryce has a fairy-tale feel to it, wonder what we’ll discover at the next three National Parks of Utah’s Mighty Five?

Leaving Bryce City
We didn’t see any road damage, or I’da taken a picture. : )
One of the Bryce Canyon NP trails we didn’t take.
It’s at the far reaches of the Park in the opposite direction of the drives we took.
Driving the road to Kodachrome.
That’s a really big house around here.
Those sculptures were whirling around. They were really pretty!

Just as we were about to turn into Kodachrome Basin State Park, we rounded a curve and ran right smack dab into a cattle drive!  Two cowboys on horses, plus one was pulling an additional unsaddled horse. (Not sure why.  Training? An escapee?)  Anyway, they were all headed right up the middle of the road right towards us!  So fun to see!

Eerk! We gotta stop!
It was like playing chicken!
They just kept walking towards us. . .
But then the air brakes puffed, and they didn’t want to play anymore. : (
Only the cowboy didn’t want them to split up, so he guided them to the other side and kept them together.

Kodachrome Basin State Park, Cannonville, Utah

This is our turn. Just past the cows.
Wow! Another beautiful place!
This will be our morning view tomorrow!

Kodachrome, they give us those nice bright colors, they give us the greens of summers, makes you think all the world’s a sunny day . . . . .
Come on.  Sing along with Paul Simon and us now.  You know you want to.  😊

This place isn’t a National Park, but it’s still very interesting and possesses a beauty all its own!  God doesn’t only work in the grand.  He’s also involved in the smaller things of life.  In fact, He’s everywhere!  Isn’t that reassuring to know?  It’s the same with our personal lives.  He’s everywhere, and involved in even the small things. I love Him most for that.  That my God is not only the God of the miraculous and the grand, but He’s also the God of the smallest detail.  And it all works together for good in the lives of those who love Him, in order to bring Him glory.  Isn’t that amazing?!?

We’re parked at a magnificent site for the next four days. The only downside is that we have zero phone or internet service.  They have a little bit of wifi service up at the entry point, but it turned out to only be good for checking emails or downloading the newspaper. ☹

Still, it’s okay.  There’s plenty I can do to get posts ready without actually posting them.  Maybe I’ll have an opportunity to get caught up!  Wouldn’t that be grand?!?  😊

After dinner, we went for a walk.  They have a short nature trail just a few steps down the road from us.  It was a good opportunity to stretch our legs and get a small look at the Park.

Ready to begin . . .
Interesting!
This and the next are Mormon Tea
Utah Juniper
I should’ve looked up what this was with Blaine’s app, but I didn’t. Maybe next time. . .
