The Ordeal 06/16/20

Thousand Lakes RV Park, Torrey, Utah

As a door turns on its hinges; so a sluggard turns on his bed.  ~ Proverbs 26:14

Always a great reminder!

Wouldn’t you think in a small campground with three – – count them, three – – laundry rooms, there wouldn’t be any problem washing and drying your clothes?  By now, you’re probably assuming that’s not going to be the case today.

I like to get started early on laundry.  I’m a “work first, then play” kinda girl.  Not because I have a great work ethic, but because I have a lazy tendency, so if I don’t get my work done first, it doesn’t get done.  With that in mind, I got Blaine up and around and out by 7:15am this morning.  He likes to help out, so that means no lounging about on laundry mornings.  😊  Besides, there’s the promise of high winds today and I don’t want to be carting clean laundry around, just to have it get filled with dirt again before I get it home.

So, off we went in the Jeep with four loads, soap and quarters to site #1.  There were two washers and two dryers.  One of the washers were being used, and one of the dryers had a sign that it didn’t work well.  So we left and stopped at site #2.  Site #2 is in the same building as the gift shop and showers.  And it had a large sign that you couldn’t possibly miss as you walk into the room “No laundry between 7-9am so the morning shower people can use the hot water.”  (or something to that effect)  So we drove over to Site #3, where Blaine discovered that the washers here were very dirty.  By this time, the washer back at site #1 was now available, so I could at least wash two loads at once.  But the wash rooms are very, very small, and there was a woman older than us in there filling the only working dryer.  She didn’t like having more than one person at a time in the room since she didn’t bring her mask, so she left us to start the washers, and returned after we left to fill her dryer.  You may picture her as a snob or something, but she was actually quite nice.

And sometimes, encouraging words can be found inside laundry rooms.

So now, three hours later, I finally finished washing and drying four loads of clothes.  Now to fold and put away . . . .

Oh.  And the wind kept steadily increasing with each of the 4-5 trips back and forth from home to laundry (I walked because it was fairly close).  By the time I was done, it was strong enough to drag good-sized locks of my hair out if the scrunchie I had it bound in.

These are my walking-to-the-laundry-room-views.
Pretty nice, huh? : )
If these don’t promote admirable or praise-worthy thoughts, I don’t know what will.

And that’s all I have for today. Enjoy a few moments rest, before we get really busy once again. I’m tired just thinking about what’s coming up . . .
